Begin by approaching God, ask for his blessing while you read and pray.

Take a chapter from the Bible and reflect on it. This can be done by reading the passage three to four times or by listing everything it reveals about yourself or guidelines to obey or promises to claim.

Structure your prayer by making confession, adoration as well as petition and thanksgiving. Pray for your immediate needs and worries and then take time to sit in the presence of God.

The great thing about praying is that it can be adapted to meet your requirements. For some, you may have only just a few minutes while others might have a half an hours or longer. It’s important to make it a regular part of your routine. If you don’t make it through one or two days, don’t sweat it! You can get back on track for the next day.

A daily prayer practice is a great opportunity to begin this new year feeling a new belief in the purpose of your life and a spiritual connection with God. It’s a powerful method to start your day, putting your focus upon the Lord and making sure that your actions and thoughts are aligned to His plans.

Another way to enhance your prayer practice is to enhance it by making it more engaging. Instead of simply reciting words, try to engage with God on a deeper level. Use your imagination and try to picture the scenes described within the Bible. Try to feel the emotions of the characters, and put yourself in their position. This will make your prayer time more meaningful and personal.

You can also try incorporating different forms of prayer into your routine. For example, try a silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even journaling your prayers. This will keep your prayer routine from becoming boring and will add the variety you need to your spiritual practice.

One of the most effective ways to stay focused and in line with your daily prayer routine is sharing your practice with others. Find a partner in accountability, a friend or family member who will check on you regularly and help you to adhere to your schedule. They may even be a part of your prayer and share their own experiences.

Remember, the goal of a daily prayer practice is to deepen your relationship with God and align your thoughts and actions with His will. It’s not about perfection or following an unwritten set of guidelines, but rather being consistent and deliberate in your spiritual life.
