It’s true that life can be busy and it’s easy for prayer to get lost on the priority list. However, just like everything else that’s worth having, it takes dedication and discipline. That’s where developing a prayer routine comes in. It provides an order and accountability to ensure we’re connecting with the divine on regularly.

So, how do you start? The first step is to decide which time of the day is most conducive to you to pray. Some people prefer to start their day by praying, while others prefer to pray before going to bed. Test and see what works best for you.

Once you’ve identified the ideal time to pray then you can begin building your daily routine. Here’s an illustration of a typical daily routine for morning prayer:

Begin by approaching God and asking for his presence while you read and pray.

Go through a section of the Bible and reflect on it. This can be done by reading it three to four times or by listing everything it reveals about yourself, or guidelines to follow or promises to make.

Make your prayer a ritual by making confession, adoration, petition, and thanksgiving. Make a prayer for your urgent needs and concerns as well as taking time to enjoy God’s presence.

The best thing about praying is that it’s customizable to fit your needs. Many people might only have just a few minutes and others could be able to devote a whole hours or longer. The trick is to make it a regular part of your daily routine. If you fall off the occasional day or two do not fret! You can get back on track the next day.

An everyday prayer practice is an excellent way to start your new year off with a fresh sense of purpose and feeling of connection to the divine. It’s a powerful method to begin your day by putting your focus on the Lord and making sure that your actions and thoughts are aligned in accordance with His plan.

Another way to increase your prayer routine is to make it more engaging. Instead of reciting the phrases, try engaging with God at a deeper level. Make use of your imagination and try to imagine the scenes that are described in the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters and put yourself in their the shoes of their characters. This will make your prayer time more personal and meaningful.

It is also possible to incorporate different types prayers into your routine. For example, try silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even journaling your prayers. This can keep your prayer practice from becoming repetitive and provide some variety to your daily spiritual routine.

One of the most effective ways to stay motivated and on track with your daily prayer routine is sharing the practice with others. Find a partner in accountability either a close friend or family member who can check in with you and encourage you to adhere to your routine. They may even join you in prayer and share their personal experiences.

Rememberthat the purpose of a daily prayer practice is to deepen your relationship with God and make sure that your thoughts and actions are aligned to His plan. It’s not about achieving perfection or following a strict set of rules, it’s about being consistent and deliberate in your spiritual life.
