Are you looking to take your spirituality to the highest level? One of the most effective ways to do that is to establish a regular prayer practice.

Think of it as your spiritual exercise, similar to like hitting the gym to stay fit, regular prayer keeps your soul healthy and connected to the Divine.

The most difficult aspect of praying is to make it a regular element of our daily lives. However, with a bit of planning and effort, you can create your own prayer routine that is suitable for you and your schedule. The greatest part is that you can customize it to fit your personality and your spiritual beliefs.

Let’s be real, life can be busy and it’s easy to let prayer slip down on the priority list. But just like anything else that’s worth having, it requires commitment and discipline. This is where establishing an effective prayer schedule comes in. It provides an order and accountability to ensure that we’re connected to God on a an ongoing basis.

How do you start? First, you must figure out which time of the day is the most suitable time to pray. Some people prefer to start their day with prayer while others find it easier to pray before going to bed. Experiment and see what works best for you.

After you’ve decided on the most appropriate time for prayer You can begin building your daily routine. Here’s an example of a pattern that you can follow daily for morning prayer:

Begin by approaching God to ask for his presence as you read and pray.

Go through a section of the Bible and then meditate on it. This can be accomplished by reading it three to four times, or writing down the things it says about yourself or guidelines to follow or promises to keep.

Your prayer should be structured by making confession, adoration prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Make a prayer for your immediate needs and worries and then take time to enjoy God’s presence.

The best thing about the prayer time routine is that it can be adapted to suit your needs. Some people may only have a few minutes to spare while others might be able to devote a whole time or even more. It’s important that you make this a regular part of your daily routine. If you don’t make it through a day or two do not fret! Just get back on track for the next day.

The practice of daily prayer is a great opportunity to begin this new year feeling a fresh feeling of purpose and connection with the divine. It’s an effective way to start your day, keeping your eyes to the Lord and making sure that your actions and thoughts are aligned with His will.

Another way to enhance your prayer routine is to create a more interactive. Instead of simply reciting words, try to engage with God at a deeper level. Use your imagination and try to visualize the scenes within the Bible. Make an effort to experience the emotion of each character and put yourself in their shoes. This makes your time of prayer more meaningful and personal.

Try incorporating different forms in your prayer daily routine. For instance, you can try silent prayers, contemplative prayers, or even writing your prayers. This will keep your prayer routine from becoming monotonous and add some variety to your daily spiritual routine.

One of the best ways to stay focused and in line with your daily prayer routine is sharing the practice with others. Find a partner in accountability, a friend or family member who will be checking in with you and encourage you to keep to your schedule. They may even join you in prayer and share their personal experiences.

The goal of a daily prayer practice is to deepen your relationship with God and make sure that your thoughts and actions are aligned with His will. It’s not about achieving perfection or following the strict rules, it’s about being deliberate and consistent in your life of faith. So, take the time to discover a prayer practice that is a good fit for you and incorporate it in your daily life. You’ll be amazed by how much difference it makes in your spiritual growth as well as overall wellbeing.
