This is where establishing the habit of praying comes into. It gives the structure and accountability needed to ensure we’re connected to God on a regularly.

So, how do you begin? The first step is to figure out which time of the day is most conducive to you to pray. Some people prefer to start their day with prayer, and others prefer to pray in the evening before going to getting to bed. Test and see what works best for you.

Once you’ve identified the ideal time to pray, you can start to build your routine. Here’s an example of a pattern that you can follow daily for morning prayer:

Begin by addressing God and asking for his blessing as you read and meditate.

Read a passage from the Bible and meditate on it for a while. It can be done by reading it three or four times, or writing down the things it says about yourself, examples to follow, commands to follow or promises to claim.

Your prayer should be structured by offering adoration, confession as well as petition and thanksgiving. Make a prayer for your needs and pressing concerns as well as taking time to sit in the presence of God.

The best thing about praying is that it’s customizable to suit your needs. Many people might only have a few minutes to spare and others could be able to devote a whole time or even more. It’s important that you make this a constant part of your routine. And if you miss a day or two, don’t sweat it! You can get back on track the next day.

The practice of daily prayer is a wonderful opportunity to begin your new year off with a new sense of purpose and spiritual connection with God. It’s a powerful way to start your day, keeping your eyes on the Lord and making sure that your actions and thoughts are aligned to His plans.

Another method to improve your prayer time is to create a more interactive. Instead of just reciting phrases, try engaging with God on a deeper level. Use your imagination and try to imagine the scenes that are described within the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters, and put yourself in their the shoes of their characters. This can make your time in prayer more meaningful and personal.

You can also try incorporating various forms in your prayer routine. For instance, you can try silent prayers, contemplative prayers, or even writing your prayers. This can keep your prayer routine from becoming boring and will add variety to your spiritual routine.

One of the most effective ways to remain motivated and on track with your daily prayer routine is sharing the practice with others. Find a accountability partner, a friend or family member who can check in with you and encourage you to keep to your routine. They can even join you in prayer and share their own experiences.

The goal of a daily prayer practice is to increase your connection with God and align your thoughts and actions in accordance with His plans. It’s not about achieving perfection or following a strict set of rules, it’s about being intentional and consistent in your life of faith. Therefore, make the effort to discover a prayer practice that works for you and incorporate it in your day-to-day life. You’ll be amazed by the difference it can make for your spiritual development and overall health.
