Think of it as your spiritual workout, just as you workout to stay in shape, an everyday prayer routine will keep your soul strong and connected to the divine.
The most difficult aspect of prayer is to make it a regular part of our daily life. However, with a bit of planning and effort it is possible to create a prayer routine that works with your lifestyle and schedule. And the most appealing part is that you are able to modify it to match your own personality and your spiritual beliefs.
It’s true that life can be busy and it’s easy to let prayers slide off the priority list. Like everything else that’s worth being a part of, it requires dedication and discipline. This is where the creation of the habit of praying comes into. It provides the structure and accountability needed to ensure we’re connecting with the divine on a regular basis.
So, how do you get started? It’s the first thing to do is decide the time of day that works best for you to pray. Some people prefer to start their day with prayer while others prefer to pray before going to getting to bed. Test and see which method works best for you.
Once you’ve identified the ideal time for prayer You can begin building your daily routine. Here’s an illustration of a typical daily routine for morning prayer:
Begin by addressing God to ask for his presence while you read and pray.
Take a chapter from the Bible and reflect on it for a while. This can be done by reading the passage three to four times, or writing down anything it tells you about yourself, or examples to follow, commands to follow or promises to claim.
Your prayer should be structured by offering adoration, confession prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Make a prayer for your urgent needs and concerns, and take time to be in God’s presence.
The great thing about praying is that it is customizable to fit your needs. Many people might only have just a few minutes and others could have an time or even more. The key is that you make this a consistent element of your day-to-day routine. If you fall off one or two days, don’t sweat it! You can get back on track for the next day.
The practice of daily prayer is a wonderful way to start your new year off with a renewed sense of purpose and spiritual connection with God. It’s a powerful method to begin your day by placing your attention to the Lord and making sure that your actions and thoughts are aligned with His will.
Another way to enhance your prayer routine is to create a more interactive. Instead of simply reciting words, try to engage with God on a deeper level. Use your imagination and try to picture the scenes described in the Bible. Make an effort to experience the emotion of each character, and put yourself in their the shoes of their characters. This makes your time of prayer more personal and meaningful.
It is also possible to incorporate various forms of prayer into your routine. For example, try a silent prayers, contemplative prayers, or even journaling your prayers. This will prevent your prayer practice from becoming repetitive and provide some variety to your daily spiritual routine.
One of the best ways to stay focused and in line with your daily prayer routine is sharing your practice with other people. Find an accountability partner, a friend or family member who will be checking in with you and encourage you to keep to your routine. They could even be a part of your prayer and share their own experiences.
Rememberthat the purpose of a daily prayer practice is to strengthen your relationship with God and make sure that your thoughts and actions are aligned with His will. It’s not about achieving perfection or following a strict set of guidelines, but rather being intentional and consistent in your daily spiritual practice. Therefore, make the effort to discover a prayer practice that you enjoy and set it as a priority within your everyday life. You’ll be amazed at how much difference it makes on your spiritual growth as well as overall wellbeing.
