The most challenging part of praying is making it a constant part of our daily lives. However, with a time and planning, you can create a prayer routine that works for you and your time. The best part is, you are able to modify it to match your own personality and your spiritual beliefs.

Life is hectic and it’s easy to let prayer slip down on the list of priorities. Like everything else that’s worth being a part of, it requires dedication and discipline. That’s where developing an effective prayer schedule comes in. It helps us establish a an order and accountability to make sure we are in contact with God on a a regular basis.

So, how do you begin? First, you must determine what time of day works best for you to pray. Some people like to start their day by praying, while others find it easier to pray before going to getting to bed. Try it out and discover what works for you.

Once you’ve determined the best time for prayer then you can begin to build your routine. Here’s an illustration of a typical daily routine for morning prayer:

Begin by approaching God to ask for his presence as you read and pray.

Go through a section of the Bible and reflect on the passage. This can be done by reading the passage three to four times, or writing down everything it reveals about yourself or the examples you can follow, instructions to follow or promises to keep.

Make your prayer a ritual by making confession, adoration prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Prayerfully address your urgent needs and concerns and then take time to be in God’s presence.

The beauty of a prayer routine is that it is customizable to fit your needs. Many people might only have some minutes and others could be able to devote a whole hours or longer. The key is that you make this a consistent element of your day-to-day routine. If you don’t make it through a day or two do not fret! Get back on track the next day.

The practice of daily prayer is a great opportunity to begin this new year feeling a renewed belief in the purpose of your life and a spiritual connection with God. It’s a powerful way to start your day, keeping your eyes on the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions in accordance with His plan.

Another way to increase your prayer time is to enhance it by making it more engaging. Instead of reciting the words, try to engage with God in a deeper way. Try using your imagination to visualize the scenes within the Bible. Try to feel the emotions of the characters and put yourself in their shoes. This can make your time in prayer more meaningful and personal.

You can also try incorporating different types in your prayer day-to-day routine. For instance, you can try silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even writing down your prayers. This can keep your prayer routine from becoming boring and will add the variety you need to your spiritual practice.

One of the best methods to keep yourself engaged and focused on your daily prayer routine is sharing your practice with others. Find a accountability partner either a close friend or family member who can check in with you and encourage you to keep to your daily routine. They could even be a part of your prayers and share their own experiences.

Remember, the goal of a daily prayer practice is to deepen your relationship with God and align your thoughts and actions to His plan. It’s not about achieving perfection or adhering to a strict set of guidelines, but rather being deliberate and consistent in your life of faith. So, take the time to discover a prayer practice that works for you and set it as a priority within your everyday life. You’ll be amazed by how much difference it makes in your spiritual growth and overall well-being.
