This is where establishing a prayer routine comes in. It gives an order and accountability to ensure we’re in contact with God on a a regular basis.
So, how do you begin? It’s the first thing to do is determine which time of the day is the most suitable time to pray. Some prefer to begin their day with prayer while others find it easier to pray in the evening before going to going to bed. Try it out and discover which method works best for you.
After you’ve decided on the most appropriate time for prayer then you can begin to build your routine. Here’s an illustration of a typical daily routine for morning prayer:
Begin by talking to God to ask for his help while you read and pray.
Read a passage from the Bible and reflect on it. It can be done by reading it three or four times, or listing the things it says about yourself or examples to follow, commands to follow or promises to keep.
Structure your prayer by offering adoration, confession, petition, and thanksgiving. Prayerfully address your urgent needs and concerns, and take time to sit in the presence of God.
The great thing about the prayer time routine is that it can be adapted to meet your requirements. Some people may only have some minutes, while others may be able to devote a whole hours or longer. The key is making it a constant part of your daily routine. If you don’t make it through one or two days Don’t be concerned! You can get back on track the next day.
An everyday prayer practice is a great opportunity to begin this new year feeling a renewed belief in the purpose of your life and a feeling of connection to the divine. It’s a powerful method to start your day, placing your attention on the Lord and making sure that your actions and thoughts are aligned to His plans.
Another way to enhance your prayer time is to enhance it by making it more engaging. Instead of just reciting words, try to engage with God at a deeper level. Use your imagination and try to imagine the scenes that are described in the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters and place yourself in their position. This makes your time of prayer more personal and meaningful.
It is also possible to incorporate different forms prayers into your day-to-day routine. For instance, you can try silent prayers, contemplative prayers, or even journaling your prayers. This can keep your prayer routine from becoming boring and will add some variety to your daily spiritual routine.
One of the most effective methods to keep yourself engaged and focused on your daily prayer routine is sharing your practice with other people. Find a accountability partner, a family member or friend member who will check on you regularly and help you to adhere to your schedule. They can even be a part of your prayers and share their own experiences.
The goal of a regular prayer routine is to deepen your relationship with God and make sure that your thoughts and actions are aligned in accordance with His plans.
