Are you willing to take your spirituality to the next level? One of the best ways to do that is to establish a regular prayer habit.
Consider it your spiritual exercise, similar to like hitting the gym to stay in shape, an everyday prayer routine keeps your soul healthy and connected to the divine.
The most challenging part of prayer is making it a constant element of our daily life. But with a little amount of planning and effort, you can create your own prayer routine that is suitable for you and your time. And the greatest part is that you can customize it to match your own personality and spiritual tradition.
Life can be busy and it’s easy to let prayers slide off the priority list. However, just like everything else that’s worth having, it takes commitment and discipline. This is where the creation of an effective prayer schedule comes in. It helps us establish a the structure and accountability needed to ensure we’re in contact with God on a an ongoing basis.
So, how do you begin? The first step is to figure out what time of day is the most suitable time to pray. Some prefer to begin their day by praying, while others prefer to pray in the evening before going to going to bed. Try it out and discover which method works best for you.
Once you’ve identified the ideal time to pray then you can begin to establish a routine. Here’s an illustration of a typical daily routine for morning prayers:
Begin by talking to God to ask for his help as you read and pray.
Take a chapter from the Bible and then meditate on it for a while. This can be accomplished by reading the passage three to four times or by listing everything it reveals about yourself or examples to follow, commands to obey , or promises to keep.
Make your prayer a ritual by offering adoration, confession prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Pray for your urgent needs and concerns and then take time to enjoy God’s presence.
The beauty of praying is that it can be adapted to fit your needs. Many people might only have some minutes, while others may have an time or even more. It’s important that you make this a consistent part of your routine. And if you miss one or two days do not fret! Get back on track for the next day.
An everyday prayer practice is a great method to begin the new year with a renewed sense of purpose and feeling of connection to the divine. It’s a powerful way to start your day, putting your focus upon the Lord and making sure that your actions and thoughts are aligned to His plans.
Another way to increase your prayer practice is to make it more interactive. Instead of reciting the phrases, try engaging with God at a deeper level. Make use of your imagination and try to imagine the scenes that are described in the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters and put yourself in their position. This makes your time of prayer more meaningful and personal.
You can also try incorporating different forms prayers into your routine. For instance, you can try silent prayer, contemplative prayer, or even writing your prayers. This will prevent your prayer routine from becoming monotonous and add some variety to your daily spiritual routine.
One of the best methods to keep yourself motivated and on track with your daily prayers is sharing the practice with other people. Find a partner in accountability, a friend or family member who will be checking in with you and help you to adhere to your routine. They may even join you in prayer and share their own experiences.
Rememberthat the purpose of daily prayer is to deepen your relationship with God and ensure that your actions and thoughts are in line to His plan. It’s not about perfectionism or adhering to an unwritten set of rules, it’s about being intentional and consistent in your daily spiritual practice. Take the time to discover a prayer practice that is a good fit for you and make it a priority in your daily life. You’ll be amazed at how much difference it makes in your spiritual growth and overall health.

Lord, I am weary and don’t know when this “race” will end in my life. I feel like I’ve been running forever trying to conquer this trial.
