Begin by approaching God to ask for his presence as you read and pray.

Take a chapter from the Bible and reflect on it for a while. This can be accomplished by reading it three to four times, or writing down everything it reveals about yourself, or the examples you can follow, instructions to obey or promises to claim.

Make your prayer a ritual by praying for adoration, confession as well as petition and thanksgiving. Prayerfully address your needs and pressing concerns as well as taking time to be in God’s presence.

Use your imagination and try to imagine the scenes that are described within the Bible. Try to feel the emotions of the characters and place yourself in their the shoes of their characters. This can make your time in prayer more personal and meaningful.

You can also try incorporating various forms prayers into your routine. For example, try silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even writing your prayers. This can keep your prayer routine from becoming monotonous and add variety to your spiritual routine.
