The most challenging part of prayer is to make it a regular part of our daily life. But with a little bit of planning and effort it is possible to create an effective prayer schedule that works for you and your schedule. The best part is, you are able to modify the ritual to suit your personal preferences and spiritual tradition.

Let’s be real, life can be hectic and it’s easy to let prayers slide off the priority list. However, just like everything else that’s worth being a part of, it requires commitment and discipline. This is where establishing a prayer routine comes in. It gives an order and accountability to ensure that we’re in contact with God on a an ongoing basis.

So, how do you begin? The first step is to determine what time of day is the most suitable time to pray. Some people prefer to start their day with prayer, and others prefer to pray before going to bed. Test and see what works for you.

After you’ve decided on the most appropriate time for prayer, you can start to build your routine. Here’s an example of a pattern that you can follow daily for prayer in the morning:

Begin by approaching God, ask for his help while you read and pray.

Go through a section of the Bible and reflect on it for a while. This can be accomplished by reading the passage three to four times, or listing everything it reveals about yourself or guidelines to obey or promises to claim.

Make your prayer a ritual by praying for adoration, confession prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Make a prayer for your needs and pressing concerns, and take time to sit in the presence of God.

The beauty of the prayer time routine is that it’s customizable to meet your requirements. Many people might only have some minutes, while others may be able to devote a whole hour or more. It’s important to make it a consistent part of your routine. If you don’t make it through a day or two do not fret! You can get back on track for the next day.

The practice of daily prayer is an excellent way to start your new year off with a renewed sense of purpose and connection with the divine. It’s an effective way to start your day, placing your attention upon the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions to His plans.

Another way to enhance your prayer time is to make it more interactive. Instead of simply reciting phrases, try engaging with God on a deeper level. Make use of your imagination and try to picture the scenes described within the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters, and put yourself in their position. This can make your time in prayer more personal and meaningful.

It is also possible to incorporate different forms prayers into your daily routine. For example, try silent prayer, contemplative prayer, or even writing your prayers. This will keep your prayer routine from becoming monotonous and add variety to your spiritual routine.

One of the most effective methods to keep yourself focused and in line with your prayer practice is by sharing your practice with others. Find an accountability partner either a close friend or family member who will check on you regularly and help you to stick to your daily routine. They can even join you in prayers and share their own experiences.

Remember, the goal of a regular prayer routine is to increase your connection with God and align your thoughts and actions to His plan. It’s not about perfection or following a strict set of rules, it’s about being consistent and deliberate in your daily spiritual practice. Take the time to discover a prayer practice that works for you and set it as a priority in your day-to-day life. You’ll be amazed by how much difference it makes in your spiritual growth and overall well-being.
