It’s true that life can be busy and it’s easy to let prayer get lost on the priority list. However, just like everything else worth being a part of, it requires dedication and discipline. This is where establishing a prayer routine comes in. It gives an order and accountability to ensure we’re connected to God on a regularly.

How do you get started? First, you must decide what time of day is the most suitable time to pray. Some people prefer to start their day with prayer, and others prefer to pray in the evening before going to going to bed. Experiment and see what works best for you.

After you’ve decided on the most appropriate time to pray then you can begin to build your routine. Here’s an example of a daily pattern for morning prayers:

Begin by approaching God to ask for his presence as you read and pray.

Go through a section of the Bible and meditate on the passage. This can be done by reading the passage three to four times, or writing down anything it tells you about yourself or guidelines to follow or promises to make.

Make your prayer a ritual by making confession, adoration as well as petition and thanksgiving. Make a prayer for your urgent needs and concerns as well as taking time to enjoy God’s presence.

The beauty of the prayer time routine is that it can be adapted to suit your needs. Some people may only have just a few minutes while others might be able to devote a whole hours or longer. The trick is making it a constant part of your routine. If you fall off one or two days do not fret! Get back on track for the next day.

The practice of daily prayer is an excellent method to begin your new year off with a renewed belief in the purpose of your life and a connection with the divine. It’s a powerful method to begin your day by keeping your eyes to the Lord and making sure that your actions and thoughts are aligned in accordance with His plan.

Another way to increase your prayer practice is to enhance it by making it more interactive. Instead of simply reciting words, you should try to connect with God in a deeper way. Make use of your imagination and try to picture the scenes described within the Bible. Make an effort to experience the emotion of each character and place yourself in their position. This can make your time in prayer more meaningful and personal.

It is also possible to incorporate various forms of prayer into your routine. For example, try silent prayers, contemplative prayers, or even writing your prayers. This will prevent your prayer routine from becoming monotonous and add variety to your spiritual routine.

One of the best methods to keep yourself focused and in line with your prayer practice is by sharing your practice with other people. Find a partner in accountability either a close friend or family member who can check in with you and encourage you to stick to your daily routine. They could even join you in prayers and share their own experiences.

Remember, the goal of a regular prayer routine is to deepen your relationship with God and make sure that your thoughts and actions are aligned to His plan. It’s not about perfectionism or adhering to the strict guidelines, but rather being deliberate and consistent in your spiritual life. So, take the time to discover a prayer practice that is a good fit for you and make it a priority in your daily life. You’ll be amazed by how much difference it makes in your spiritual growth as well as overall wellbeing.
