The most challenging aspect of prayer is making it a consistent element of our daily lives. With a bit of planning and effort it is possible to create your own prayer routine that is suitable for you and your schedule. The greatest part is that you are able to modify it to fit your personality and your spiritual beliefs.

Let’s be real, life can be hectic and it’s easy for prayer to get lost on the priority list. Like everything else that’s worth having, it requires effort and discipline. This is where establishing the habit of praying comes into. It gives structure and accountability to ensure we’re connected to God on a an ongoing basis.

So, how do you get started? First, you must decide the time of day that is most conducive to you to pray. Some prefer to begin their day with prayer, while others find it easier to pray before going to getting to bed. Test and see what works for you.

After you’ve decided on the most appropriate time to pray then you can begin to establish a routine. Here’s an example of a daily pattern for morning prayers:

Begin by addressing God and asking for his presence as you read and meditate.

Read a passage from the Bible and then meditate on the passage. This can be done by reading it three or four times or by listing anything it tells you about yourself, the examples you can follow, instructions to obey or promises to keep.

Structure your prayer by offering adoration, confession as well as petition and thanksgiving. Pray for your urgent needs and concerns, and take time to sit in the presence of God.

The great thing about the prayer time routine is that it is customizable to fit your needs. For some, you may have only just a few minutes and others could have an hour or more. It’s important to make it a constant part of your daily routine. If you don’t make it through the occasional day or two Don’t be concerned! Just get back on track for the next day.

The practice of daily prayer is a great method to begin this new year feeling a fresh belief in the purpose of your life and a feeling of connection to the divine. It’s a powerful way to begin your day by keeping your eyes to the Lord and making sure that your actions and thoughts are aligned to His plans.

Another way to enhance your prayer time is to enhance it by making it more engaging. Instead of simply reciting words, try to engage with God on a deeper level. Use your imagination and try to visualize the scenes within the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters, and put yourself in their the shoes of their characters. This will make your prayer time more meaningful and personal.

You can also try incorporating various forms in your prayer daily routine. For instance, you can try silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even writing down your prayers. This can keep your prayer routine from becoming repetitive and provide some variety to your daily spiritual routine.

One of the most effective ways to stay engaged and focused on your prayer practice is by sharing your practice with others. Find a accountability partner either a close friend or family member who will check in with you and help you to stick to your daily routine. They may even be a part of your prayer and share their own experiences.

Rememberthat the purpose of daily prayer is to strengthen your relationship with God and make sure that your thoughts and actions are aligned in accordance with His plans. It’s not about perfectionism or adhering to the strict guidelines, but rather being consistent and deliberate in your spiritual life. So, take the time to discover a prayer practice that works for you and set it as a priority in your day-to-day life. You’ll be amazed by how much difference it makes for your spiritual development as well as overall wellbeing.
