This is where establishing the habit of praying comes into. It gives structure and accountability to make sure we are in contact with God on a regularly.
So, how do you begin? The first step is to decide which time of the day is the most suitable time to pray. Some people like to start their day with prayer while others find it easier to pray before going to getting to bed. Test and see which method works best for you.
After you’ve decided on the most appropriate time for prayer You can begin to build your routine. Here’s an illustration of a typical daily routine for morning prayer:
Begin by addressing God, ask for his help as you read and pray.
Read a passage from the Bible and meditate on it. It can be done by reading the passage three to four times, or listing anything it tells you about yourself, or the examples you can follow, instructions to obey , or promises to make.
Your prayer should be structured by praying for adoration, confession prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Prayerfully address your needs and pressing concerns, and take time to enjoy God’s presence.
The best thing about praying is that it’s customizable to fit your needs. Many people might only have some minutes while others might be able to devote a whole hour or more. It’s important that you make this a constant element of your day-to-day routine. If you don’t make it through a day or two do not fret! Just get back on track the following day.
The practice of daily prayer is a wonderful opportunity to begin your new year off with a fresh sense of purpose and connection with the divine. It’s a powerful way to start your day, putting your focus upon the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions to His plans.
Another way to enhance your prayer time is to enhance it by making it more engaging. Instead of simply reciting words, you should try to connect with God in a deeper way. Make use of your imagination and try to imagine the scenes that are described in the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters and place yourself in their shoes. This can make your time in prayer more meaningful and personal.
You can also try incorporating different types of prayer into your day-to-day routine. For instance, you can try silent prayer, contemplative prayer, or even journaling your prayers. This will prevent your prayer practice from becoming repetitive and provide some variety to your daily spiritual routine.
One of the best ways to stay motivated and on track with your daily prayer routine is sharing it with others. Find a accountability partner, a family member or friend member who can check on you regularly and help you to adhere to your routine. They can even be a part of your prayers and share their own experiences.
Remember, the goal of daily prayer is to deepen your relationship with God and make sure that your thoughts and actions are aligned with His will. It’s not about achieving perfection or following the strict guidelines, but rather being consistent and deliberate in your life of faith. So, take the time to create a routine of prayer that you enjoy and incorporate it in your daily life. You’ll be amazed by the difference it can make in your spiritual growth and overall well-being.
