Consider it your spiritual exercise, similar to as you go to the gym to keep in shape. regular prayer will keep your soul strong and in tune with the Divine.
The most challenging part of praying is to make it a regular part of our lives. But with a little bit of planning and effort you can develop a prayer routine that works for you and your schedule. And the most appealing part is that you get to customize it to fit your personality and religious tradition.
It’s true that life can be hectic and it’s easy for prayer to slide off the priority list. However, just like everything other thing worth being a part of, it requires effort and discipline. This is where the creation of a prayer routine comes in. It provides structure and accountability to ensure that we’re in contact with God on a a regular basis.
So, how do you get started? The first step is to determine the time of day that works best for you to pray. Some people like to start their day by praying, and others prefer to pray in the evening before going to getting to bed. Experiment and see what works best for you.
Once you’ve determined the best time for prayer then you can begin to build your routine. Here’s an illustration of a typical daily routine for morning prayer:
Begin by talking to God and asking for his help as you read and meditate.
Take a chapter from the Bible and reflect on it. This can be accomplished by reading the passage three to four times or by listing anything it tells you about yourself, examples to follow, commands to obey or promises to claim.
Your prayer should be structured by making confession, adoration prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Make a prayer for your urgent needs and concerns and then take time to enjoy God’s presence.
The beauty of a prayer routine is that it’s customizable to suit your needs. Many people might only have a few minutes to spare and others could have an hours or longer. It’s important to make it a constant part of your daily routine. If you don’t make it through a day or two, don’t sweat it! You can get back on track the next day.
An everyday prayer practice is a wonderful way to start the new year with a new feeling of purpose and feeling of connection to the divine. It’s a powerful way to begin your day by putting your focus upon the Lord and making sure that your actions and thoughts are aligned to His plans.
Another method to improve your prayer routine is to make it more engaging. Instead of simply reciting words, try to engage with God in a deeper way. Use your imagination and try to visualize the scenes in the Bible. Try to feel the emotions of the characters and place yourself in their the shoes of their characters. This will make your prayer time more personal and meaningful.
You can also try incorporating different forms in your prayer routine. For instance, you can try silent prayers, contemplative prayers, or even writing your prayers. This will keep your prayer practice from becoming monotonous and add the variety you need to your spiritual practice.
One of the most effective methods to keep yourself motivated and on track with your prayer practice is by sharing it with others. Find a accountability partner either a close friend or family member who will be checking on you regularly and help you to stick to your routine. They can even be a part of your prayer and share their own experiences.
The goal of a regular prayer routine is to deepen your relationship with God and align your thoughts and actions to His plan. It’s not about achieving perfection or following a strict set of guidelines, but rather being consistent and deliberate in your life of faith. Therefore, make the effort to find a prayer routine that works for you and incorporate it in your daily life. You’ll be amazed by the impact it has in your spiritual growth as well as overall wellbeing.
