This is where the creation of the habit of praying comes into. It helps us establish a the structure and accountability needed to ensure we’re connected to God on a a regular basis.
So, how do you begin? First, you must decide the time of day that is the most suitable time to pray. Some people prefer to start their day by praying, while others find it easier to pray at night before getting to bed. Test and see what works for you.
Once you’ve determined the best time to pray then you can begin to build your routine. Here’s an example of a pattern that you can follow daily for morning prayers:
Begin by approaching God, ask for his help while you read and pray.
Read a passage from the Bible and then meditate on the passage. This can be accomplished by reading it three to four times, or writing down anything it tells you about yourself or examples to follow, commands to follow or promises to claim.
Make your prayer a ritual by praying for adoration, confession, petition, and thanksgiving. Pray for your urgent needs and concerns and then take time to enjoy God’s presence.
The beauty of praying is that it can be adapted to fit your needs. Some people may only have just a few minutes while others might have a half an hours or longer. It’s important to make it a consistent part of your daily routine. And if you miss one or two days, don’t sweat it! You can get back on track for the next day.
An everyday prayer practice is a great method to begin your new year off with a new belief in the purpose of your life and a spiritual connection with God. It’s an effective way to start your day, keeping your eyes to the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions to His plans.
Another method to improve your prayer practice is to make it more interactive. Instead of simply reciting phrases, try engaging with God on a deeper level. Try using your imagination to picture the scenes described within the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters and put yourself in their shoes. This makes your time of prayer more personal and meaningful.
It is also possible to incorporate various forms in your prayer daily routine. For instance, you can try silent prayers, contemplative prayers, or even writing down your prayers. This can keep your prayer practice from becoming boring and will add some variety to your daily spiritual routine.
One of the best methods to keep yourself engaged and focused on your daily prayers is sharing your practice with other people. Find a accountability partner either a close friend or family member who will check in with you and help you to adhere to your daily routine. They may even be a part of your prayer and share their own experiences.
Remember, the goal of a daily prayer practice is to deepen your relationship with God and align your thoughts and actions to His plan. It’s not about perfection or adhering to a strict set of rules, it’s about being deliberate and consistent in your spiritual life. Therefore, make the effort to find a prayer routine that works for you and make it a priority in your daily life.
