The most difficult aspect of praying is to make it a regular part of our lives. However, with a bit of planning and effort you can develop an effective prayer schedule that works with your lifestyle and schedule. And the best part is, you get to customize it to match your own personality and spiritual tradition.

Life is hectic and it’s easy for prayer to get lost on the priority list. But just like anything else worth having, it requires effort and discipline. This is where the creation of the habit of praying comes into. It gives the structure and accountability needed to ensure we’re connecting with the divine on regularly.

How do you start? It’s the first thing to do is determine what time of day is most conducive to you to pray. Some people like to start their day with prayer, while others find it easier to pray in the evening before going to bed. Try it out and discover which method works best for you.

After you’ve decided on the most appropriate time to pray, you can start building your daily routine. Here’s an example of a daily pattern for morning prayer:

Begin by talking to God to ask for his blessing as you read and meditate.

Go through a section of the Bible and then meditate on it for a while. This can be accomplished by reading it three to four times or by listing anything it tells you about yourself or the examples you can follow, instructions to follow or promises to keep.

Your prayer should be structured by offering adoration, confession, petition, and thanksgiving. Prayerfully address your immediate needs and worries, and take time to enjoy God’s presence.

The great thing about a prayer routine is that it’s customizable to fit your needs. Some people may only have just a few minutes while others might have a half an time or even more. The key is that you make this a consistent part of your routine. If you don’t make it through a day or two Don’t be concerned! Just get back on track the next day.

An everyday prayer practice is a great opportunity to begin this new year feeling a new feeling of purpose and feeling of connection to the divine. It’s a powerful way to start your day, keeping your eyes to the Lord and making sure that your actions and thoughts are aligned to His plans.

Another way to increase your prayer routine is to make it more engaging. Instead of simply reciting words, try to engage with God in a deeper way. Try using your imagination to imagine the scenes that are described within the Bible. Make an effort to experience the emotion of each character and put yourself in their shoes. This makes your time of prayer more personal and meaningful.

It is also possible to incorporate different forms prayers into your routine. For example, try silent prayers, contemplative prayers, or even journaling your prayers. This will prevent your prayer routine from becoming boring and will add the variety you need to your spiritual practice.

One of the most effective ways to remain focused and in line with your prayer practice is by sharing your practice with others. Find a accountability partner, a friend or family member who can check on you regularly and help you to stick to your schedule. They could even be a part of your prayer and share their own experiences.

Rememberthat the purpose of daily prayer is to increase your connection with God and align your thoughts and actions in accordance with His plans. It’s not about perfectionism or adhering to a strict set of guidelines, but rather being intentional and consistent in your spiritual life. Take the time to discover a prayer practice that you enjoy and set it as a priority in your daily life. You’ll be amazed by the difference it can make in your spiritual growth and overall well-being.
