Are you willing to take your spiritual journey to the next level? One of the best ways to accomplish this is by developing a daily prayer practice.

Consider it your spiritual exercise, similar to as you go to the gym to stay in shape, a daily prayer practice can keep your soul strong and in tune with the Divine.

The most challenging part of prayer is making it a consistent part of our life. But with a little amount of planning and effort, you can create a prayer routine that works for you and your schedule. And the best part is, you get to customize it to match your own personality and spiritual tradition.

Let’s be real, life is hectic and it’s easy to let prayers slide off the priority list. However, just like everything other thing worth having, it takes effort and discipline. This is where the creation of a prayer routine comes in. It gives structure and accountability to make sure we are in contact with God on a an ongoing basis.

So, how do you get started? It’s the first thing to do is figure out what time of day is the most suitable time to pray. Some people prefer to start their day by praying, while others find it easier to pray at night before bed. Experiment and see what works best for you.

Once you’ve determined the best time for prayer You can begin to build your routine. Here’s an illustration of a typical daily routine for morning prayer:

Begin by approaching God, ask for his presence while you read and pray.

Go through a section of the Bible and meditate on it for a while. This can be done by reading the passage three to four times or by listing everything it reveals about yourself, or guidelines to follow or promises to claim.

Your prayer should be structured by offering adoration, confession, petition, and thanksgiving. Pray for your urgent needs and concerns and then take time to be in God’s presence.

The beauty of a prayer routine is that it can be adapted to fit your needs. Many people might only have some minutes, while others may have a half an hours or longer. The trick is that you make this a regular part of your routine. If you fall off one or two days do not fret! Just get back on track for the next day.

The practice of daily prayer is an excellent way to start this new year feeling a renewed sense of purpose and feeling of connection to the divine. It’s a powerful way to begin your day by keeping your eyes upon the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions in accordance with His plan.

Another way to increase your prayer practice is to make it more engaging. Instead of reciting the words, try to engage with God in a deeper way. Use your imagination and try to visualize the scenes within the Bible. Try to feel the emotions of the characters, and put yourself in their position. This can make your time in prayer more personal and meaningful.

Try incorporating various forms prayers into your day-to-day routine. For example, try a silent prayer, contemplative prayer, or even journaling your prayers. This will keep your prayer practice from becoming monotonous and add the variety you need to your spiritual practice.

One of the best ways to stay motivated and on track with your daily prayers is sharing your practice with others. Find a partner in accountability either a close friend or family member who can check in with you and encourage you to stick to your daily routine. They could even be a part of your prayer and share their own experiences.

The goal of daily prayer is to deepen your relationship with God and ensure that your actions and thoughts are in line to His plan. It’s not about achieving perfection or following the strict guidelines, but rather being deliberate and consistent in your spiritual life. Therefore, make the effort to create a routine of prayer that is a good fit for you and set it as a priority within your everyday life. You’ll be amazed at the difference it can make in your spiritual growth as well as overall wellbeing.
