The most difficult aspect of prayer is making it a consistent part of our life. With a amount of planning and effort it is possible to create an effective prayer schedule that works for you and your schedule. And the best part is, you can customize it to match your own personality and religious tradition.

Life can be busy and it’s easy for prayer to slide off the list of priorities. Like everything else that’s worth being a part of, it requires effort and discipline. This is where the creation of an effective prayer schedule comes in. It helps us establish a the structure and accountability needed to ensure we’re connecting with the divine on an ongoing basis.

So, how do you start? First, you must decide which time of the day is most conducive to you to pray. Some prefer to begin their day by praying, and others prefer to pray at night before getting to bed. Experiment and see what works best for you.

After you’ve decided on the most appropriate time to pray You can begin to build your routine. Here’s an illustration of a typical daily routine for morning prayers:

Begin by talking to God, ask for his blessing while you read and pray.

Take a chapter from the Bible and then meditate on it. This can be accomplished by reading the passage three to four times or by listing the things it says about yourself, examples to follow, commands to obey or promises to claim.

Structure your prayer by offering adoration, confession, petition, and thanksgiving. Pray for your needs and pressing concerns as well as taking time to sit in the presence of God.

The beauty of the prayer time routine is that it’s customizable to fit your needs. For some, you may have only some minutes while others might be able to devote a whole hour or more. It’s important making it a regular part of your routine. If you fall off the occasional day or two do not fret! Get back on track the next day.

The practice of daily prayer is a great way to start your new year off with a renewed sense of purpose and feeling of connection to the divine. It’s a powerful method to begin your day by keeping your eyes upon the Lord and making sure that your actions and thoughts are aligned to His plans.

Another way to enhance your prayer practice is to make it more engaging. Instead of reciting the words, try to engage with God at a deeper level. Use your imagination and try to picture the scenes described in the Bible. Try to feel the emotions of the characters and put yourself in their the shoes of their characters. This makes your time of prayer more meaningful and personal.

Try incorporating different types prayers into your day-to-day routine. For example, try silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even writing your prayers. This will keep your prayer practice from becoming repetitive and provide some variety to your daily spiritual routine.

One of the best ways to stay focused and in line with your daily prayer routine is sharing your practice with other people. Find an accountability partner either a close friend or family member who will be checking in with you and help you to stick to your routine. They could even join you in prayer and share their personal experiences.

Remember, the goal of daily prayer is to deepen your relationship with God and ensure that your actions and thoughts are in line with His will. It’s not about perfectionism or following the strict guidelines, but rather being deliberate and consistent in your daily spiritual practice. So, take the time to discover a prayer practice that works for you and make it a priority within your everyday life.
