Once you’ve determined the best time for prayer, you can start building your daily routine. Here’s an example of a pattern that you can follow daily for morning prayer:
Begin by approaching God, ask for his presence while you read and pray.
Go through a section of the Bible and reflect on the passage. This can be accomplished by reading the passage three to four times or by listing the things it says about yourself, or examples to follow, commands to follow or promises to keep.
Your prayer should be structured by praying for adoration, confession prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Pray for your urgent needs and concerns and then take time to be in God’s presence.
The beauty of the prayer time routine is that it’s customizable to suit your needs. Some people may only have a few minutes to spare and others could have an time or even more. The trick is to make it a constant element of your day-to-day routine. If you don’t make it through the occasional day or two, don’t sweat it! You can get back on track the following day.
An everyday prayer practice is a wonderful way to start your new year off with a new sense of purpose and connection with the divine. It’s a powerful method to begin your day by keeping your eyes on the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions in accordance with His plan.
Another way to enhance your prayer practice is to enhance it by making it more engaging. Instead of reciting the words, try to engage with God at a deeper level. Make use of your imagination and try to imagine the scenes that are described in the Bible. Make an effort to experience the emotion of each character and place yourself in their the shoes of their characters. This can make your time in prayer more meaningful and personal.
Try incorporating various forms of prayer into your day-to-day routine. For example, try a silent prayers, contemplative prayers, or even writing your prayers. This will prevent your prayer practice from becoming repetitive and provide variety to your spiritual routine.
One of the best ways to remain engaged and focused on your daily prayers is sharing it with other people. Find a partner in accountability, a friend or family member who will be checking in with you and encourage you to stick to your schedule. They can even be a part of your prayer and share their personal experiences.
Remember, the goal of a regular prayer routine is to deepen your relationship with God and align your thoughts and actions to His plan. It’s not about achieving perfection or following a strict set of rules, it’s about being deliberate and consistent in your life of faith. Therefore, make the effort to create a routine of prayer that you enjoy and incorporate it in your day-to-day life.
