Begin by talking to God, ask for his help as you read and pray.
Go through a section of the Bible and then meditate on the passage. It can be done by reading it three to four times, or writing down everything it reveals about yourself, or guidelines to obey or promises to make.
Structure your prayer by making confession, adoration prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Pray for your immediate needs and worries, and take time to be in God’s presence.
The best thing about praying is that it can be adapted to meet your requirements. Some people may only have a few minutes to spare while others might have a half an hours or longer. The key is to make it a constant element of your day-to-day routine. If you fall off one or two days do not fret! You can get back on track the next day.

Another way to increase your prayer routine is to enhance it by making it more interactive. Instead of simply reciting words, you should try to connect with God at a deeper level. Make use of your imagination and try to picture the scenes described within the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters and place yourself in their shoes. This will make your prayer time more meaningful and personal.
You can also try incorporating different forms prayers into your daily routine. For example, try silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even journaling your prayers. This will keep your prayer routine from becoming boring and will add variety to your spiritual routine.

Find a accountability partner, a friend or family member who will be checking on you regularly and help you to stick to your schedule. They could even be a part of your prayer and share their personal experiences.
