How do you begin? It’s the first thing to do is figure out which time of the day works best for you to pray. Some people like to start their day with prayer while others prefer to pray at night before going to bed. Try it out and discover what works for you.
After you’ve decided on the most appropriate time to pray then you can begin building your daily routine. Here’s an illustration of a typical daily routine for prayer in the morning:
Begin by talking to God and asking for his presence while you read and pray.
Read a passage from the Bible and meditate on it for a while. This can be done by reading it three to four times or by listing everything it reveals about yourself, examples to follow, commands to obey or promises to claim.
Structure your prayer by offering adoration, confession as well as petition and thanksgiving. Make a prayer for your needs and pressing concerns, and take time to enjoy God’s presence.
The great thing about the prayer time routine is that it is customizable to suit your needs. Some people may only have a few minutes to spare and others could be able to devote a whole time or even more. The key is to make it a regular part of your daily routine. If you don’t make it through one or two days do not fret! Get back on track for the next day.
The practice of daily prayer is a wonderful opportunity to begin this new year feeling a new feeling of purpose and spiritual connection with God. It’s a powerful way to start your day, placing your attention upon the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions to His plans.
Another way to enhance your prayer time is to create a more engaging. Instead of reciting the words, try to engage with God at a deeper level. Use your imagination and try to picture the scenes described within the Bible. Make an effort to experience the emotion of each character and place yourself in their shoes. This can make your time in prayer more meaningful and personal.
Try incorporating different types in your prayer routine. For instance, you can try silent prayer, contemplative prayer, or even writing down your prayers. This will prevent your prayer routine from becoming repetitive and provide variety to your spiritual routine.
One of the best methods to keep yourself engaged and focused on your prayer practice is by sharing the practice with others. Find a partner in accountability either a close friend or family member who will check on you regularly and help you to stick to your schedule. They can even be a part of your prayers and share their own experiences.
The goal of daily prayer is to increase your connection with God and make sure that your thoughts and actions are aligned to His plan. It’s not about achieving perfection or following the strict rules, it’s about being deliberate and consistent in your spiritual life.
