Let’s be real, life can be hectic and it’s easy for prayer to get lost on the priority list. However, just like everything other thing worth being a part of, it requires effort and discipline. This is where the creation of an effective prayer schedule comes in. It gives an order and accountability to ensure we’re in contact with God on a an ongoing basis.
How do you get started? It’s the first thing to do is decide the time of day that is the most suitable time to pray. Some people like to start their day with prayer while others prefer to pray at night before getting to bed. Try it out and discover which method works best for you.
After you’ve decided on the most appropriate time to pray You can begin building your daily routine. Here’s an illustration of a typical daily routine for morning prayer:
Begin by addressing God to ask for his presence while you read and pray.
Go through a section of the Bible and meditate on the passage. This can be accomplished by reading it three or four times, or writing down anything it tells you about yourself, the examples you can follow, instructions to obey or promises to keep.
Make your prayer a ritual by making confession, adoration as well as petition and thanksgiving. Prayerfully address your needs and pressing concerns and then take time to be in God’s presence.
The great thing about praying is that it’s customizable to suit your needs. Many people might only have some minutes, while others may have an time or even more. The trick is to make it a consistent part of your daily routine. And if you miss the occasional day or two, don’t sweat it! Get back on track the next day.
A daily prayer practice is a great opportunity to begin your new year off with a renewed feeling of purpose and feeling of connection to the divine. It’s an effective way to begin your day by keeping your eyes to the Lord and making sure that your actions and thoughts are aligned to His plans.
Another way to increase your prayer routine is to enhance it by making it more interactive. Instead of just reciting phrases, try engaging with God at a deeper level. Use your imagination and try to visualize the scenes within the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters, and put yourself in their the shoes of their characters. This can make your time in prayer more personal and meaningful.
You can also try incorporating different forms in your prayer daily routine. For example, try silent prayer, contemplative prayer, or even journaling your prayers. This will prevent your prayer routine from becoming monotonous and add some variety to your daily spiritual routine.
One of the most effective ways to stay focused and in line with your daily prayer routine is sharing your practice with others. Find a partner in accountability, a family member or friend member who will be checking on you regularly and help you to stick to your routine. They may even be a part of your prayer and share their own experiences.
The goal of daily prayer is to strengthen your relationship with God and align your thoughts and actions in accordance with His plans. It’s not about achieving perfection or following a strict set of guidelines, but rather being consistent and deliberate in your life of faith. So, take the time to create a routine of prayer that you enjoy and set it as a priority within your everyday life.
