Let’s be real, life can be hectic and it’s easy for prayer to get lost on the list of priorities. Like everything other thing worth being a part of, it requires effort and discipline. That’s where developing a prayer routine comes in. It gives the structure and accountability needed to make sure we are in contact with God on a a regular basis.

So, how do you start? First, you must determine what time of day is most conducive to you to pray. Some people like to start their day with prayer and others prefer to pray before going to going to bed. Test and see what works best for you.

Once you’ve identified the ideal time for prayer then you can begin to establish a routine. Here’s an example of a pattern that you can follow daily for prayer in the morning:

Begin by talking to God to ask for his presence as you read and meditate.

Read a passage from the Bible and reflect on it for a while. This can be accomplished by reading it three to four times, or writing down everything it reveals about yourself, or guidelines to follow or promises to claim.

Make your prayer a ritual by praying for adoration, confession, petition, and thanksgiving. Make a prayer for your immediate needs and worries, and take time to be in God’s presence.

The great thing about praying is that it can be adapted to fit your needs. Some people may only have some minutes, while others may be able to devote a whole hour or more. It’s important that you make this a consistent element of your day-to-day routine. If you don’t make it through one or two days do not fret! Get back on track for the next day.

The practice of daily prayer is an excellent way to start the new year with a renewed feeling of purpose and feeling of connection to the divine. It’s an effective way to begin your day by putting your focus on the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions in accordance with His plan.

Another method to improve your prayer routine is to make it more engaging. Instead of simply reciting phrases, try engaging with God on a deeper level. Try using your imagination to picture the scenes described by the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters and place yourself in their shoes. This will make your prayer time more personal and meaningful.

You can also try incorporating different types of prayer into your daily routine. For instance, you can try silent prayer, contemplative prayer, or even writing your prayers. This can keep your prayer routine from becoming monotonous and add the variety you need to your spiritual practice.

One of the best methods to keep yourself motivated and on track with your daily prayers is sharing it with others. Find a partner in accountability, a family member or friend member who can check in with you and help you to adhere to your schedule. They can even be a part of your prayer and share their personal experiences.

The goal of a daily prayer practice is to increase your connection with God and ensure that your actions and thoughts are in line in accordance with His plans. It’s not about achieving perfection or following a strict set of rules, it’s about being consistent and deliberate in your daily spiritual practice. So, take the time to find a prayer routine that is a good fit for you and set it as a priority in your day-to-day life. You’ll be amazed by the impact it has in your spiritual growth and overall health.
