Imagine it as your spiritual workout. Just as you workout to keep in shape. a daily prayer practice can keep your soul strong and in tune with the divine.

The most challenging aspect of prayer is making it a consistent part of our life. With a time and planning you can develop your own prayer routine that is suitable for you and your schedule. The best part is, you are able to modify it to fit your personality and spiritual tradition.

Let’s be real, life can be busy and it’s easy to let prayers slide off the priority list. However, just like everything else that’s worth having, it takes effort and discipline. That’s where developing an effective prayer schedule comes in. It helps us establish a an order and accountability to ensure we’re in contact with God on a a regular basis.

So, how do you get started? It’s the first thing to do is figure out which time of the day is most conducive to you to pray. Some prefer to begin their day with prayer, while others prefer to pray before going to getting to bed. Test and see what works for you.

Once you’ve identified the ideal time to pray then you can begin building your daily routine. Here’s an example of a daily pattern for prayer in the morning:

Begin by approaching God and asking for his blessing while you read and pray.

Read a passage from the Bible and reflect on the passage. This can be accomplished by reading the passage three to four times, or listing everything it reveals about yourself, the examples you can follow, instructions to obey or promises to keep.

Your prayer should be structured by praying for adoration, confession as well as petition and thanksgiving. Pray for your immediate needs and worries as well as taking time to sit in the presence of God.

The best thing about a prayer routine is that it can be adapted to suit your needs. Many people might only have just a few minutes and others could have a half an hour or more. It’s important to make it a regular part of your daily routine. If you don’t make it through one or two days do not fret! You can get back on track the following day.

An everyday prayer practice is a wonderful method to begin your new year off with a fresh feeling of purpose and connection with the divine. It’s a powerful method to begin your day by putting your focus on the Lord and making sure that your actions and thoughts are aligned in accordance with His plan.

Another way to increase your prayer time is to enhance it by making it more interactive. Instead of reciting the words, you should try to connect with God in a deeper way. Make use of your imagination and try to visualize the scenes by the Bible. Try to feel the emotions of the characters and put yourself in their shoes. This will make your prayer time more personal and meaningful.

Try incorporating different types in your prayer daily routine. For example, try silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even writing down your prayers. This can keep your prayer routine from becoming boring and will add the variety you need to your spiritual practice.

One of the most effective ways to remain focused and in line with your daily prayers is sharing it with others. Find an accountability partner, a friend or family member who will check in with you and help you to keep to your daily routine. They may even be a part of your prayer and share their own experiences.

The goal of a regular prayer routine is to deepen your relationship with God and make sure that your thoughts and actions are aligned to His plan. It’s not about perfection or adhering to an unwritten set of guidelines, but rather being intentional and consistent in your daily spiritual practice. Take the time to create a routine of prayer that works for you and make it a priority within your everyday life. You’ll be amazed at the difference it can make for your spiritual development and overall well-being.
