So, how do you start? First, you must figure out what time of day is most conducive to you to pray. Some prefer to begin their day by praying, while others prefer to pray at night before getting to bed. Try it out and discover what works best for you.
Once you’ve determined the best time for prayer then you can begin to build your routine. Here’s an example of a pattern that you can follow daily for morning prayer:
Begin by talking to God, ask for his help as you read and meditate.
Take a chapter from the Bible and meditate on the passage. It can be done by reading it three or four times or by listing anything it tells you about yourself, or examples to follow, commands to follow or promises to keep.
Structure your prayer by making confession, adoration prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Pray for your immediate needs and worries as well as taking time to be in God’s presence.
The beauty of the prayer time routine is that it’s customizable to suit your needs. Many people might only have a few minutes to spare and others could have an hour or more. The key is that you make this a consistent element of your day-to-day routine. If you fall off the occasional day or two, don’t sweat it! You can get back on track for the next day.
An everyday prayer practice is an excellent opportunity to begin this new year feeling a fresh feeling of purpose and feeling of connection to the divine. It’s a powerful method to start your day, putting your focus upon the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions with His will.
Another way to enhance your prayer time is to create a more interactive. Instead of just reciting phrases, try engaging with God at a deeper level. Try using your imagination to imagine the scenes that are described within the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters, and put yourself in their the shoes of their characters. This makes your time of prayer more meaningful and personal.
It is also possible to incorporate various forms prayers into your daily routine. For instance, you can try silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even writing down your prayers. This will prevent your prayer routine from becoming repetitive and provide variety to your spiritual routine.
One of the most effective methods to keep yourself focused and in line with your prayer practice is by sharing your practice with other people. Find a accountability partner either a close friend or family member who will be checking on you regularly and help you to stick to your schedule. They could even be a part of your prayer and share their own experiences.
Remember, the goal of a regular prayer routine is to deepen your relationship with God and make sure that your thoughts and actions are aligned in accordance with His plans.
