It’s true that life can be hectic and it’s easy for prayer to slip down on the priority list. However, just like everything else worth being a part of, it requires effort and discipline. This is where establishing the habit of praying comes into. It gives structure and accountability to ensure that we’re in contact with God on a regularly.
So, how do you get started? The first step is to determine which time of the day is the most suitable time to pray. Some people like to start their day by praying, while others prefer to pray in the evening before going to getting to bed. Try it out and discover which method works best for you.
After you’ve decided on the most appropriate time for prayer then you can begin to build your routine. Here’s an example of a daily pattern for morning prayers:
Begin by approaching God, ask for his presence while you read and pray.
Take a chapter from the Bible and meditate on it for a while. It can be done by reading the passage three to four times or by listing everything it reveals about yourself or the examples you can follow, instructions to obey or promises to claim.
Make your prayer a ritual by making confession, adoration as well as petition and thanksgiving. Make a prayer for your urgent needs and concerns as well as taking time to be in God’s presence.
The great thing about the prayer time routine is that it can be adapted to suit your needs. For some, you may have only just a few minutes, while others may have an hour or more. The key is to make it a regular part of your daily routine. If you don’t make it through a day or two Don’t be concerned! You can get back on track the following day.
The practice of daily prayer is an excellent method to begin this new year feeling a fresh feeling of purpose and feeling of connection to the divine. It’s an effective way to start your day, keeping your eyes upon the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions to His plans.
Another way to increase your prayer routine is to create a more interactive. Instead of simply reciting words, try to engage with God on a deeper level. Try using your imagination to imagine the scenes that are described by the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters, and put yourself in their position. This can make your time in prayer more meaningful and personal.
Try incorporating different forms in your prayer routine. For example, try silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even writing your prayers. This will keep your prayer routine from becoming boring and will add the variety you need to your spiritual practice.
One of the best ways to stay motivated and on track with your daily prayers is sharing it with others. Find a accountability partner, a family member or friend member who can check on you regularly and help you to stick to your schedule. They may even join you in prayer and share their own experiences.
Rememberthat the purpose of daily prayer is to deepen your relationship with God and align your thoughts and actions in accordance with His plans. It’s not about achieving perfection or following the strict guidelines, but rather being intentional and consistent in your daily spiritual practice. Therefore, make the effort to create a routine of prayer that is a good fit for you and incorporate it within your everyday life. You’ll be amazed by the difference it can make for your spiritual development as well as overall wellbeing.
