Begin by addressing God and asking for his blessing as you read and pray.

Go through a section of the Bible and meditate on it. It can be done by reading it three to four times or by listing anything it tells you about yourself, guidelines to obey or promises to claim.

Make your prayer a ritual by praying for adoration, confession, petition, and thanksgiving. Make a prayer for your needs and pressing concerns, and take time to sit in the presence of God.

Try using your imagination to picture the scenes described within the Bible. Try to feel the emotions of the characters and place yourself in their the shoes of their characters. This can make your time in prayer more meaningful and personal.

It is also possible to incorporate different types of prayer into your day-to-day routine. For example, try a silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even writing your prayers. This can keep your prayer routine from becoming boring and will add the variety you need to your spiritual practice.
