Are you willing to take your spirituality to the highest level? One of the best ways to accomplish this is to develop a daily prayer practice.

Consider it your spiritual workout. Just as you go to the gym to stay fit, regular prayer will keep your soul strong and in tune with the Divine.

The most challenging part of prayer is making it a consistent element of our daily life. However, with a bit of planning and effort you can develop a prayer routine that works for you and your time. The most appealing part is that you get to customize it to fit your personality and spiritual tradition.

Let’s be real, life can be hectic and it’s easy to let prayer slip down on the priority list. But just like anything other thing worth having, it requires effort and discipline. This is where the creation of a prayer routine comes in. It gives an order and accountability to make sure we are connected to God on a regularly.

So, how do you get started? The first step is to determine what time of day works best for you to pray. Some people like to start their day with prayer and others prefer to pray in the evening before going to bed. Try it out and discover what works best for you.

Once you’ve identified the ideal time for prayer, you can start building your daily routine. Here’s an example of a pattern that you can follow daily for prayer in the morning:

Begin by approaching God to ask for his blessing while you read and pray.

Take a chapter from the Bible and then meditate on the passage. This can be done by reading it three or four times or by listing the things it says about yourself, or guidelines to obey , or promises to claim.

Your prayer should be structured by making confession, adoration, petition, and thanksgiving. Make a prayer for your immediate needs and worries and then take time to sit in the presence of God.

The best thing about the prayer time routine is that it’s customizable to fit your needs. For some, you may have only some minutes and others could be able to devote a whole hour or more. The key is that you make this a consistent part of your daily routine. If you don’t make it through one or two days do not fret! Get back on track the following day.

A daily prayer practice is a great method to begin the new year with a fresh belief in the purpose of your life and a spiritual connection with God. It’s a powerful method to start your day, putting your focus upon the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions to His plans.

Another method to improve your prayer practice is to enhance it by making it more engaging. Instead of simply reciting phrases, try engaging with God on a deeper level. Try using your imagination to visualize the scenes by the Bible. Try to feel the emotions of the characters and put yourself in their position. This makes your time of prayer more personal and meaningful.

Try incorporating different types in your prayer daily routine. For example, try a silent prayer, contemplative prayer, or even journaling your prayers. This can keep your prayer practice from becoming repetitive and provide some variety to your daily spiritual routine.

One of the best ways to remain engaged and focused on your daily prayer routine is sharing your practice with other people. Find a partner in accountability, a friend or family member who will check in with you and encourage you to stick to your schedule. They may even be a part of your prayer and share their own experiences.

Remember, the goal of a daily prayer practice is to deepen your relationship with God and ensure that your actions and thoughts are in line to His plan. It’s not about achieving perfection or adhering to an unwritten set of guidelines, but rather being consistent and deliberate in your spiritual life. Therefore, make the effort to create a routine of prayer that you enjoy and set it as a priority within your everyday life. You’ll be amazed at the difference it can make for your spiritual development and overall well-being.
