Begin by approaching God, ask for his presence as you read and pray.

Take a chapter from the Bible and then meditate on it. It can be done by reading it three or four times or by listing anything it tells you about yourself, or the examples you can follow, instructions to obey or promises to make.

Structure your prayer by praying for adoration, confession prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Pray for your urgent needs and concerns and then take time to enjoy God’s presence.

Use your imagination and try to imagine the scenes that are described within the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters, and put yourself in their the shoes of their characters. This makes your time of prayer more personal and meaningful.

Try incorporating various forms prayers into your daily routine. For example, try silent prayer, contemplative prayer, or even writing your prayers. This can keep your prayer practice from becoming boring and will add variety to your spiritual routine.
