That’s where developing the habit of praying comes into. It helps us establish a the structure and accountability needed to ensure that we’re connected to God on a an ongoing basis.
How do you start? It’s the first thing to do is decide what time of day is most conducive to you to pray. Some people prefer to start their day by praying, while others find it easier to pray at night before going to bed. Experiment and see what works for you.
After you’ve decided on the most appropriate time for prayer then you can begin to establish a routine. Here’s an example of a pattern that you can follow daily for morning prayers:
Begin by talking to God, ask for his presence as you read and meditate.
Read a passage from the Bible and meditate on it for a while. This can be done by reading it three or four times, or writing down everything it reveals about yourself, or examples to follow, commands to obey or promises to keep.
Your prayer should be structured by praying for adoration, confession prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Pray for your needs and pressing concerns as well as taking time to sit in the presence of God.
The beauty of praying is that it’s customizable to meet your requirements. Some people may only have a few minutes to spare, while others may have an time or even more. The trick is to make it a regular part of your routine. If you fall off one or two days, don’t sweat it! Get back on track the following day.
An everyday prayer practice is a wonderful opportunity to begin the new year with a renewed sense of purpose and feeling of connection to the divine. It’s an effective way to begin your day by placing your attention upon the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions in accordance with His plan.
Another method to improve your prayer time is to create a more interactive. Instead of just reciting phrases, try engaging with God on a deeper level. Try using your imagination to picture the scenes described in the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters, and put yourself in their position. This makes your time of prayer more personal and meaningful.
You can also try incorporating different types in your prayer day-to-day routine. For example, try silent prayers, contemplative prayers, or even writing down your prayers. This will prevent your prayer practice from becoming monotonous and add some variety to your daily spiritual routine.
One of the best ways to remain engaged and focused on your daily prayers is sharing it with other people. Find an accountability partner, a family member or friend member who will check in with you and help you to adhere to your routine. They can even join you in prayer and share their personal experiences.
The goal of a regular prayer routine is to increase your connection with God and align your thoughts and actions to His plan. It’s not about perfectionism or adhering to a strict set of guidelines, but rather being consistent and deliberate in your daily spiritual practice. Take the time to create a routine of prayer that is a good fit for you and incorporate it within your everyday life.
