That’s where developing a prayer routine comes in. It gives the structure and accountability needed to make sure we are connected to God on a regularly.

How do you start? It’s the first thing to do is decide which time of the day is most conducive to you to pray. Some people like to start their day with prayer and others prefer to pray at night before getting to bed. Experiment and see what works best for you.

Once you’ve determined the best time for prayer then you can begin to establish a routine. Here’s an illustration of a typical daily routine for morning prayers:

Begin by addressing God, ask for his presence as you read and pray.

Read a passage from the Bible and meditate on it. It can be done by reading it three to four times, or listing everything it reveals about yourself or examples to follow, commands to follow or promises to make.

Make your prayer a ritual by making confession, adoration prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Pray for your immediate needs and worries, and take time to enjoy God’s presence.

The beauty of praying is that it’s customizable to suit your needs. Some people may only have a few minutes to spare, while others may have an hour or more. The key is that you make this a regular part of your routine. If you don’t make it through a day or two Don’t be concerned! Get back on track the next day.

The practice of daily prayer is a great way to start your new year off with a renewed feeling of purpose and connection with the divine. It’s an effective way to start your day, keeping your eyes upon the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions to His plans.

Another way to increase your prayer routine is to enhance it by making it more engaging. Instead of reciting the phrases, try engaging with God on a deeper level. Make use of your imagination and try to imagine the scenes that are described by the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters and put yourself in their position. This will make your prayer time more meaningful and personal.

It is also possible to incorporate various forms prayers into your daily routine. For example, try a silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even journaling your prayers. This will prevent your prayer practice from becoming monotonous and add some variety to your daily spiritual routine.

One of the best ways to stay engaged and focused on your daily prayers is sharing the practice with other people. Find an accountability partner either a close friend or family member who will be checking on you regularly and help you to adhere to your routine. They could even be a part of your prayers and share their own experiences.

Rememberthat the purpose of a daily prayer practice is to deepen your relationship with God and align your thoughts and actions to His plan. It’s not about perfection or adhering to an unwritten set of guidelines, but rather being intentional and consistent in your spiritual life. So, take the time to find a prayer routine that is a good fit for you and make it a priority in your daily life.
