However, with a bit of planning and effort it is possible to create a prayer routine that works with your lifestyle and schedule. The most appealing part is that you get to customize the ritual to suit your personal preferences and religious tradition.
Let’s be real, life can be hectic and it’s easy for prayer to get lost on the priority list. But just like anything else worth being a part of, it requires effort and discipline. This is where the creation of an effective prayer schedule comes in. It gives the structure and accountability needed to ensure that we’re in contact with God on a an ongoing basis.
How do you get started? It’s the first thing to do is determine which time of the day is the most suitable time to pray. Some prefer to begin their day with prayer and others prefer to pray at night before getting to bed. Try it out and discover what works best for you.
Once you’ve determined the best time to pray You can begin to establish a routine. Here’s an example of a pattern that you can follow daily for morning prayers:
Begin by addressing God to ask for his blessing as you read and meditate.
Go through a section of the Bible and reflect on the passage. This can be accomplished by reading it three or four times, or listing everything it reveals about yourself, the examples you can follow, instructions to obey or promises to keep.
Your prayer should be structured by offering adoration, confession, petition, and thanksgiving. Prayerfully address your urgent needs and concerns and then take time to be in God’s presence.
The great thing about praying is that it can be adapted to suit your needs. For some, you may have only some minutes and others could have a half an hours or longer. The trick is that you make this a constant part of your routine. If you don’t make it through the occasional day or two, don’t sweat it! Get back on track the following day.
A daily prayer practice is an excellent opportunity to begin this new year feeling a renewed feeling of purpose and feeling of connection to the divine. It’s an effective way to start your day, putting your focus to the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions to His plans.
Another way to increase your prayer routine is to create a more interactive. Instead of reciting the words, you should try to connect with God in a deeper way. Make use of your imagination and try to picture the scenes described by the Bible. Try to feel the emotions of the characters and place yourself in their position. This will make your prayer time more meaningful and personal.
You can also try incorporating various forms prayers into your routine. For instance, you can try silent prayer, contemplative prayer, or even writing your prayers. This can keep your prayer routine from becoming monotonous and add some variety to your daily spiritual routine.
One of the most effective ways to remain focused and in line with your daily prayers is sharing your practice with others. Find a partner in accountability either a close friend or family member who can check on you regularly and help you to keep to your daily routine. They can even be a part of your prayer and share their personal experiences.
The goal of a regular prayer routine is to increase your connection with God and make sure that your thoughts and actions are aligned to His plan. It’s not about perfectionism or adhering to a strict set of guidelines, but rather being deliberate and consistent in your daily spiritual practice. Take the time to discover a prayer practice that is a good fit for you and set it as a priority within your everyday life.
