Let’s be real, life can be busy and it’s easy to let prayers get lost on the priority list. But just like anything other thing worth having, it takes commitment and discipline. That’s where developing the habit of praying comes into. It helps us establish a the structure and accountability needed to make sure we are in contact with God on a a regular basis.

How do you get started? First, you must determine what time of day is the most suitable time to pray. Some prefer to begin their day with prayer and others prefer to pray in the evening before going to getting to bed. Try it out and discover what works best for you.

After you’ve decided on the most appropriate time to pray You can begin to establish a routine. Here’s an illustration of a typical daily routine for prayer in the morning:

Begin by addressing God, ask for his presence as you read and pray.

Take a chapter from the Bible and then meditate on it for a while. This can be accomplished by reading it three to four times, or writing down the things it says about yourself or guidelines to follow or promises to make.

Your prayer should be structured by praying for adoration, confession, petition, and thanksgiving. Make a prayer for your immediate needs and worries and then take time to sit in the presence of God.

The great thing about praying is that it’s customizable to suit your needs. For some, you may have only a few minutes to spare, while others may have an hour or more. The trick is making it a constant part of your routine. And if you miss one or two days Don’t be concerned! Get back on track the following day.

The practice of daily prayer is a great opportunity to begin your new year off with a new feeling of purpose and feeling of connection to the divine. It’s a powerful method to start your day, putting your focus to the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions in accordance with His plan.

Another method to improve your prayer routine is to make it more interactive. Instead of reciting the phrases, try engaging with God on a deeper level. Use your imagination and try to imagine the scenes that are described in the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters and put yourself in their the shoes of their characters. This makes your time of prayer more meaningful and personal.

Try incorporating different types in your prayer routine. For instance, you can try silent prayer, contemplative prayer, or even writing down your prayers. This will keep your prayer practice from becoming monotonous and add variety to your spiritual routine.

One of the most effective methods to keep yourself motivated and on track with your daily prayer routine is sharing your practice with other people. Find a partner in accountability, a friend or family member who will check in with you and encourage you to adhere to your schedule. They can even join you in prayer and share their own experiences.

Remember, the goal of a regular prayer routine is to increase your connection with God and ensure that your actions and thoughts are in line with His will. It’s not about achieving perfection or following the strict guidelines, but rather being intentional and consistent in your life of faith. Take the time to create a routine of prayer that you enjoy and incorporate it in your day-to-day life. You’ll be amazed by the difference it can make on your spiritual growth as well as overall wellbeing.
