It’s true that life is hectic and it’s easy for prayer to get lost on the priority list. Like everything else that’s worth being a part of, it requires commitment and discipline. This is where the creation of a prayer routine comes in. It helps us establish a the structure and accountability needed to ensure that we’re in contact with God on a a regular basis.

So, how do you begin? It’s the first thing to do is decide what time of day is the most suitable time to pray. Some prefer to begin their day with prayer, while others find it easier to pray before going to getting to bed. Test and see what works for you.

After you’ve decided on the most appropriate time for prayer then you can begin to build your routine. Here’s an illustration of a typical daily routine for morning prayers:

Begin by talking to God and asking for his blessing as you read and meditate.

Go through a section of the Bible and reflect on it. This can be accomplished by reading the passage three to four times, or listing everything it reveals about yourself or the examples you can follow, instructions to follow or promises to keep.

Structure your prayer by making confession, adoration, petition, and thanksgiving. Make a prayer for your immediate needs and worries and then take time to sit in the presence of God.

The best thing about praying is that it’s customizable to meet your requirements. Some people may only have a few minutes to spare, while others may be able to devote a whole time or even more. The key is to make it a constant part of your routine. And if you miss one or two days Don’t be concerned! Get back on track the following day.

A daily prayer practice is an excellent method to begin this new year feeling a new belief in the purpose of your life and a connection with the divine. It’s a powerful way to start your day, placing your attention upon the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions with His will.

Another way to increase your prayer practice is to make it more engaging. Instead of just reciting words, try to engage with God at a deeper level. Use your imagination and try to visualize the scenes in the Bible. Make an effort to experience the emotion of each character and put yourself in their position. This makes your time of prayer more personal and meaningful.

It is also possible to incorporate different forms in your prayer day-to-day routine. For instance, you can try silent prayers, contemplative prayers, or even writing your prayers. This will keep your prayer routine from becoming monotonous and add variety to your spiritual routine.

One of the best methods to keep yourself motivated and on track with your daily prayer routine is sharing it with other people. Find a accountability partner either a close friend or family member who can check in with you and help you to keep to your schedule. They can even join you in prayer and share their personal experiences.

Remember, the goal of a daily prayer practice is to strengthen your relationship with God and make sure that your thoughts and actions are aligned with His will. It’s not about perfectionism or following an unwritten set of rules, it’s about being intentional and consistent in your life of faith. Take the time to create a routine of prayer that is a good fit for you and set it as a priority within your everyday life.
