Let’s be real, life can be hectic and it’s easy to let prayers slip down on the list of priorities. Like everything else worth having, it takes effort and discipline. This is where establishing a prayer routine comes in. It provides an order and accountability to ensure that we’re connecting with the divine on regularly.
How do you start? The first step is to figure out which time of the day works best for you to pray. Some people prefer to start their day with prayer while others find it easier to pray in the evening before going to going to bed. Try it out and discover which method works best for you.
After you’ve decided on the most appropriate time to pray, you can start to build your routine. Here’s an example of a pattern that you can follow daily for prayer in the morning:
Begin by addressing God to ask for his help as you read and meditate.
Go through a section of the Bible and reflect on the passage. This can be accomplished by reading it three or four times, or listing anything it tells you about yourself, the examples you can follow, instructions to follow or promises to make.
Structure your prayer by praying for adoration, confession prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Make a prayer for your immediate needs and worries, and take time to enjoy God’s presence.
The best thing about the prayer time routine is that it can be adapted to fit your needs. Many people might only have some minutes while others might be able to devote a whole hour or more. It’s important making it a consistent element of your day-to-day routine. If you don’t make it through the occasional day or two, don’t sweat it! Just get back on track for the next day.
An everyday prayer practice is a great opportunity to begin your new year off with a fresh belief in the purpose of your life and a spiritual connection with God. It’s a powerful way to begin your day by putting your focus on the Lord and making sure that your actions and thoughts are aligned to His plans.
Another way to increase your prayer practice is to create a more interactive. Instead of just reciting words, you should try to connect with God in a deeper way. Try using your imagination to imagine the scenes that are described in the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters and put yourself in their position. This will make your prayer time more meaningful and personal.
Try incorporating various forms of prayer into your day-to-day routine. For example, try a silent prayers, contemplative prayers, or even journaling your prayers. This will keep your prayer routine from becoming boring and will add some variety to your daily spiritual routine.
One of the best methods to keep yourself focused and in line with your daily prayer routine is sharing your practice with others. Find an accountability partner, a friend or family member who will be checking on you regularly and help you to adhere to your routine. They may even join you in prayer and share their own experiences.
Rememberthat the purpose of a regular prayer routine is to deepen your relationship with God and ensure that your actions and thoughts are in line with His will. It’s not about perfection or adhering to the strict guidelines, but rather being deliberate and consistent in your life of faith. Therefore, make the effort to create a routine of prayer that works for you and set it as a priority within your everyday life.
