Think of it as your spiritual exercise, similar to as you go to the gym to stay in shape, regular prayer will keep your soul strong and connected to the divine.
The most difficult aspect of praying is making it a consistent element of our daily lives. But with a little bit of planning and effort it is possible to create an effective prayer schedule that works for you and your time. And the best part is, you get to customize it to match your own personality and religious tradition.
Life can be hectic and it’s easy for prayer to slip down on the list of priorities. But just like anything else worth having, it takes effort and discipline. That’s where developing a prayer routine comes in. It helps us establish a an order and accountability to ensure we’re connecting with the divine on regularly.
So, how do you start? The first step is to determine what time of day is the most suitable time to pray. Some people like to start their day with prayer and others prefer to pray before going to going to bed. Try it out and discover which method works best for you.
Once you’ve identified the ideal time to pray then you can begin building your daily routine. Here’s an example of a pattern that you can follow daily for prayer in the morning:
Begin by approaching God and asking for his blessing as you read and pray.
Take a chapter from the Bible and then meditate on it. It can be done by reading it three to four times or by listing the things it says about yourself, the examples you can follow, instructions to obey , or promises to keep.
Your prayer should be structured by making confession, adoration prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Pray for your immediate needs and worries as well as taking time to enjoy God’s presence.
The beauty of the prayer time routine is that it can be adapted to meet your requirements. Some people may only have some minutes and others could have a half an hour or more. The key is to make it a consistent element of your day-to-day routine. If you don’t make it through the occasional day or two, don’t sweat it! Get back on track the next day.
An everyday prayer practice is a great way to start this new year feeling a renewed feeling of purpose and connection with the divine. It’s an effective way to start your day, putting your focus upon the Lord and making sure that your actions and thoughts are aligned in accordance with His plan.
Another way to enhance your prayer time is to create a more engaging. Instead of reciting the words, you should try to connect with God in a deeper way. Use your imagination and try to imagine the scenes that are described by the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters and put yourself in their the shoes of their characters. This makes your time of prayer more meaningful and personal.
Try incorporating different types of prayer into your daily routine. For example, try a silent prayer, contemplative prayer, or even writing down your prayers. This will prevent your prayer routine from becoming repetitive and provide variety to your spiritual routine.
One of the most effective ways to remain focused and in line with your daily prayer routine is sharing your practice with others. Find a partner in accountability, a family member or friend member who will be checking on you regularly and help you to stick to your daily routine. They can even be a part of your prayer and share their personal experiences.
Rememberthat the purpose of daily prayer is to increase your connection with God and make sure that your thoughts and actions are aligned in accordance with His plans. It’s not about perfectionism or following an unwritten set of guidelines, but rather being consistent and deliberate in your life of faith. Therefore, make the effort to find a prayer routine that works for you and set it as a priority within your everyday life. You’ll be amazed by the impact it has in your spiritual growth as well as overall wellbeing.
