The most challenging part of praying is to make it a regular part of our lives. With a time and planning you can develop a prayer routine that works with your lifestyle and schedule. It’s true that life can be hectic and it’s easy for prayer to get lost on the priority list. However, just like everything other thing worth having, it takes dedication and discipline. This is where the creation of a prayer routine comes in. It gives an order and accountability to make sure we are connecting with the divine on regularly.
So, how do you start? It’s the first thing to do is figure out which time of the day is the most suitable time to pray. Some prefer to begin their day by praying, while others find it easier to pray before going to getting to bed. Try it out and discover which method works best for you.
After you’ve decided on the most appropriate time to pray then you can begin to establish a routine. Here’s an example of a pattern that you can follow daily for morning prayer:
Begin by addressing God to ask for his presence while you read and pray.
Take a chapter from the Bible and then meditate on the passage. This can be done by reading the passage three to four times, or writing down anything it tells you about yourself, guidelines to follow or promises to claim.
Structure your prayer by praying for adoration, confession prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Make a prayer for your urgent needs and concerns, and take time to sit in the presence of God.
The best thing about the prayer time routine is that it’s customizable to meet your requirements. For some, you may have only a few minutes to spare while others might have a half an time or even more. The trick is that you make this a regular part of your daily routine. If you fall off one or two days, don’t sweat it! Get back on track the next day.
An everyday prayer practice is a wonderful opportunity to begin your new year off with a new feeling of purpose and feeling of connection to the divine. It’s a powerful method to start your day, putting your focus upon the Lord and making sure that your actions and thoughts are aligned to His plans.
Another way to enhance your prayer practice is to create a more interactive. Instead of reciting the words, you should try to connect with God in a deeper way. Make use of your imagination and try to imagine the scenes that are described in the Bible. Make an effort to experience the emotion of each character and put yourself in their the shoes of their characters. This can make your time in prayer more meaningful and personal.
You can also try incorporating different types of prayer into your routine. For instance, you can try silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even writing your prayers. This will keep your prayer practice from becoming monotonous and add the variety you need to your spiritual practice.
One of the most effective ways to stay motivated and on track with your prayer practice is by sharing it with other people. Find a accountability partner, a family member or friend member who will check on you regularly and help you to adhere to your daily routine. They may even be a part of your prayer and share their own experiences.
Remember, the goal of a daily prayer practice is to strengthen your relationship with God and ensure that your actions and thoughts are in line with His will. It’s not about achieving perfection or following an unwritten set of guidelines, but rather being deliberate and consistent in your life of faith. Take the time to find a prayer routine that you enjoy and incorporate it in your daily life. You’ll be amazed by the impact it has for your spiritual development as well as overall wellbeing.
