It’s true that life can be busy and it’s easy for prayer to slide off the priority list. But just like anything else worth being a part of, it requires dedication and discipline. This is where establishing the habit of praying comes into. It provides the structure and accountability needed to ensure we’re connected to God on a a regular basis.

So, how do you begin? The first step is to decide what time of day works best for you to pray. Some people prefer to start their day with prayer and others prefer to pray in the evening before going to going to bed. Try it out and discover which method works best for you.

Once you’ve identified the ideal time to pray then you can begin to establish a routine. Here’s an example of a pattern that you can follow daily for morning prayers:

Begin by approaching God to ask for his blessing while you read and pray.

Read a passage from the Bible and then meditate on the passage. This can be accomplished by reading it three or four times, or listing anything it tells you about yourself or examples to follow, commands to follow or promises to make.

Structure your prayer by making confession, adoration as well as petition and thanksgiving. Make a prayer for your immediate needs and worries, and take time to enjoy God’s presence.

The best thing about praying is that it is customizable to fit your needs. For some, you may have only just a few minutes while others might have an time or even more. The key is that you make this a consistent part of your routine. And if you miss a day or two Don’t be concerned! Get back on track the next day.

A daily prayer practice is a great way to start your new year off with a renewed feeling of purpose and feeling of connection to the divine. It’s a powerful way to begin your day by putting your focus upon the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions in accordance with His plan.

Another way to increase your prayer time is to make it more engaging. Instead of reciting the words, try to engage with God at a deeper level. Try using your imagination to visualize the scenes by the Bible. Make an effort to experience the emotion of each character, and put yourself in their position. This will make your prayer time more personal and meaningful.

It is also possible to incorporate various forms in your prayer daily routine. For example, try silent prayer, contemplative prayer, or even writing down your prayers. This will keep your prayer routine from becoming monotonous and add the variety you need to your spiritual practice.

One of the most effective methods to keep yourself engaged and focused on your prayer practice is by sharing your practice with other people. Find a partner in accountability, a family member or friend member who can check in with you and help you to stick to your daily routine. They can even join you in prayer and share their own experiences.

The goal of a regular prayer routine is to increase your connection with God and ensure that your actions and thoughts are in line to His plan. It’s not about perfectionism or following a strict set of rules, it’s about being consistent and deliberate in your life of faith. Take the time to find a prayer routine that is a good fit for you and incorporate it in your daily life. You’ll be amazed by the difference it can make in your spiritual growth and overall health.
