This is where establishing a prayer routine comes in. It helps us establish a an order and accountability to ensure we’re in contact with God on a a regular basis.

How do you begin? First, you must determine the time of day that is the most suitable time to pray. Some prefer to begin their day by praying, and others prefer to pray before going to bed. Test and see what works best for you.

Once you’ve identified the ideal time for prayer then you can begin building your daily routine. Here’s an example of a pattern that you can follow daily for morning prayer:

Begin by addressing God and asking for his blessing as you read and meditate.

Go through a section of the Bible and then meditate on it. It can be done by reading it three to four times, or listing everything it reveals about yourself, or the examples you can follow, instructions to follow or promises to make.

Make your prayer a ritual by praying for adoration, confession prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Prayerfully address your urgent needs and concerns and then take time to be in God’s presence.

The best thing about praying is that it can be adapted to suit your needs. Many people might only have just a few minutes and others could have an hours or longer. The trick is to make it a regular part of your daily routine. If you fall off a day or two, don’t sweat it! Get back on track the next day.

Another way to enhance your prayer time is to enhance it by making it more interactive. Instead of simply reciting words, try to engage with God on a deeper level. Make use of your imagination and try to imagine the scenes that are described within the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters and place yourself in their shoes. This makes your time of prayer more personal and meaningful.

Try incorporating different forms prayers into your daily routine. For instance, you can try silent prayers, contemplative prayers, or even writing down your prayers. This will keep your prayer routine from becoming boring and will add some variety to your daily spiritual routine.

One of the most effective ways to stay engaged and focused on your daily prayers is sharing it with others. Find a partner in accountability, a friend or family member who can check in with you and encourage you to adhere to your schedule. They may even join you in prayer and share their personal experiences.

Remember, the goal of a daily prayer practice is to deepen your relationship with God and align your thoughts and actions in accordance with His plans. It’s not about achieving perfection or following an unwritten set of guidelines, but rather being intentional and consistent in your daily spiritual practice.
