Are you ready to take your spirituality to the highest level? One of the best ways to do that is to establish a regular prayer practice.

Imagine it as your spiritual exercise, similar to as you workout to stay in shape, an everyday prayer routine keeps your soul healthy and in tune with the divine.

The most difficult aspect of praying is making it a consistent part of our daily lives. With a time and planning, you can create your own prayer routine that is suitable with your lifestyle and schedule. And the best part is, you can customize it to match your own personality and religious tradition.

It’s true that life can be hectic and it’s easy for prayer to get lost on the priority list. Like everything else that’s worth having, it requires effort and discipline. This is where the creation of the habit of praying comes into. It gives structure and accountability to ensure that we’re connected to God on a an ongoing basis.

How do you start? First, you must determine the time of day that is most conducive to you to pray. Some people like to start their day with prayer, while others find it easier to pray at night before going to bed. Experiment and see which method works best for you.

Once you’ve determined the best time for prayer then you can begin to establish a routine. Here’s an illustration of a typical daily routine for morning prayers:

Begin by addressing God and asking for his help as you read and meditate.

Go through a section of the Bible and meditate on the passage. This can be accomplished by reading it three or four times, or writing down anything it tells you about yourself, or guidelines to follow or promises to make.

Make your prayer a ritual by praying for adoration, confession, petition, and thanksgiving. Prayerfully address your urgent needs and concerns as well as taking time to enjoy God’s presence.

The beauty of the prayer time routine is that it’s customizable to fit your needs. Many people might only have a few minutes to spare and others could have an hours or longer. It’s important to make it a consistent part of your daily routine. And if you miss the occasional day or two do not fret! Get back on track the following day.

An everyday prayer practice is a wonderful opportunity to begin this new year feeling a renewed feeling of purpose and spiritual connection with God. It’s a powerful method to begin your day by placing your attention to the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions to His plans.

Another way to increase your prayer practice is to make it more engaging. Instead of simply reciting phrases, try engaging with God on a deeper level. Use your imagination and try to imagine the scenes that are described within the Bible. Make an effort to experience the emotion of each character and place yourself in their position. This will make your prayer time more meaningful and personal.

Try incorporating different types of prayer into your day-to-day routine. For example, try silent prayer, contemplative prayer, or even writing down your prayers. This will keep your prayer routine from becoming boring and will add variety to your spiritual routine.

One of the most effective ways to remain engaged and focused on your prayer practice is by sharing your practice with others. Find an accountability partner either a close friend or family member who can check on you regularly and help you to keep to your schedule. They may even be a part of your prayer and share their personal experiences.

The goal of daily prayer is to increase your connection with God and ensure that your actions and thoughts are in line with His will. It’s not about perfectionism or following an unwritten set of rules, it’s about being consistent and deliberate in your life of faith. So, take the time to discover a prayer practice that you enjoy and make it a priority in your day-to-day life. You’ll be amazed by the impact it has in your spiritual growth as well as overall wellbeing.
