After you’ve decided on the most appropriate time to pray then you can begin to establish a routine. Here’s an example of a pattern that you can follow daily for prayer in the morning:
Begin by approaching God to ask for his presence as you read and pray.
Take a chapter from the Bible and reflect on it. This can be accomplished by reading the passage three to four times, or writing down the things it says about yourself or guidelines to obey or promises to keep.
Your prayer should be structured by praying for adoration, confession, petition, and thanksgiving. Pray for your needs and pressing concerns and then take time to enjoy God’s presence.
The best thing about a prayer routine is that it can be adapted to meet your requirements. Some people may only have a few minutes to spare, while others may have an hour or more. Another way to enhance your prayer routine is to enhance it by making it more engaging. Instead of just reciting words, you should try to connect with God at a deeper level. Make use of your imagination and try to picture the scenes described within the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters and put yourself in their shoes. This makes your time of prayer more meaningful and personal.
You can also try incorporating various forms prayers into your day-to-day routine. For example, try silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even writing down your prayers. This will prevent your prayer practice from becoming monotonous and add variety to your spiritual routine.
One of the most effective ways to stay focused and in line with your prayer practice is by sharing your practice with other people. Find a partner in accountability either a close friend or family member who will check in with you and help you to keep to your routine. They could even join you in prayer and share their personal experiences.
