The most challenging part of praying is making it a constant part of our daily life. With a amount of planning and effort you can develop an effective prayer schedule that works with your lifestyle and schedule. The best part is, you get to customize the ritual to suit your personal preferences and spiritual tradition.

Let’s be real, life can be hectic and it’s easy to let prayers get lost on the list of priorities. However, just like everything other thing worth having, it requires effort and discipline. This is where the creation of the habit of praying comes into. It gives structure and accountability to ensure we’re in contact with God on a an ongoing basis.

So, how do you begin? It’s the first thing to do is decide which time of the day works best for you to pray. Some prefer to begin their day with prayer, while others prefer to pray before going to getting to bed. Try it out and discover what works best for you.

After you’ve decided on the most appropriate time for prayer You can begin to build your routine. Here’s an illustration of a typical daily routine for morning prayers:

Begin by addressing God, ask for his blessing while you read and pray.

Read a passage from the Bible and meditate on it. It can be done by reading it three or four times, or writing down anything it tells you about yourself, guidelines to obey or promises to make.

Make your prayer a ritual by making confession, adoration as well as petition and thanksgiving. Make a prayer for your urgent needs and concerns, and take time to sit in the presence of God.

The beauty of a prayer routine is that it’s customizable to fit your needs. For some, you may have only a few minutes to spare while others might be able to devote a whole hour or more. The key is making it a consistent element of your day-to-day routine. If you fall off the occasional day or two, don’t sweat it! Get back on track the next day.

A daily prayer practice is an excellent opportunity to begin your new year off with a fresh sense of purpose and feeling of connection to the divine. It’s a powerful method to start your day, keeping your eyes to the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions with His will.

Another way to enhance your prayer routine is to enhance it by making it more interactive. Instead of simply reciting words, you should try to connect with God on a deeper level. Use your imagination and try to imagine the scenes that are described by the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters, and put yourself in their shoes. This will make your prayer time more meaningful and personal.

Try incorporating different forms prayers into your daily routine. For example, try a silent prayer, contemplative prayer, or even journaling your prayers. This can keep your prayer practice from becoming boring and will add some variety to your daily spiritual routine.

One of the most effective methods to keep yourself engaged and focused on your daily prayers is sharing your practice with other people. Find a partner in accountability either a close friend or family member who will be checking on you regularly and help you to keep to your daily routine. They may even be a part of your prayer and share their personal experiences.

Remember, the goal of daily prayer is to increase your connection with God and ensure that your actions and thoughts are in line in accordance with His plans. It’s not about perfectionism or adhering to a strict set of guidelines, but rather being deliberate and consistent in your spiritual life. Take the time to create a routine of prayer that is a good fit for you and incorporate it in your day-to-day life. You’ll be amazed by the difference it can make for your spiritual development as well as overall wellbeing.
