The greatest part is that you get to customize it to match your own personality and religious tradition.

Life is hectic and it’s easy to let prayers slip down on the list of priorities. But just like anything else that’s worth having, it requires effort and discipline. This is where the creation of the habit of praying comes into. It helps us establish a structure and accountability to ensure we’re connecting with the divine on regularly.

So, how do you start? First, you must figure out what time of day is the most suitable time to pray. Some prefer to begin their day with prayer and others prefer to pray in the evening before going to going to bed. Test and see what works for you.

Once you’ve determined the best time for prayer then you can begin to establish a routine. Here’s an example of a pattern that you can follow daily for morning prayers:

Begin by approaching God to ask for his blessing as you read and meditate.

Read a passage from the Bible and reflect on the passage. It can be done by reading the passage three to four times, or writing down anything it tells you about yourself, or guidelines to obey , or promises to make.

Your prayer should be structured by praying for adoration, confession as well as petition and thanksgiving. Make a prayer for your urgent needs and concerns and then take time to enjoy God’s presence.

The best thing about the prayer time routine is that it’s customizable to fit your needs. For some, you may have only some minutes while others might have an time or even more. The key is that you make this a consistent part of your routine. If you fall off one or two days do not fret! Get back on track the following day.

The practice of daily prayer is a wonderful opportunity to begin the new year with a renewed sense of purpose and spiritual connection with God. It’s a powerful way to start your day, keeping your eyes upon the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions with His will.

Another way to enhance your prayer practice is to make it more interactive. Instead of reciting the phrases, try engaging with God at a deeper level. Make use of your imagination and try to imagine the scenes that are described by the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters and place yourself in their the shoes of their characters. This makes your time of prayer more meaningful and personal.

Try incorporating different forms in your prayer routine. For instance, you can try silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even writing your prayers. This will keep your prayer practice from becoming repetitive and provide variety to your spiritual routine.

One of the most effective ways to stay focused and in line with your daily prayers is sharing your practice with other people. Find an accountability partner, a friend or family member who can check on you regularly and help you to stick to your routine. They could even be a part of your prayer and share their personal experiences.

Remember, the goal of daily prayer is to increase your connection with God and ensure that your actions and thoughts are in line in accordance with His plans. It’s not about achieving perfection or following a strict set of rules, it’s about being intentional and consistent in your spiritual life. Take the time to discover a prayer practice that works for you and set it as a priority within your everyday life. You’ll be amazed by how much difference it makes in your spiritual growth and overall health.
