This is where establishing the habit of praying comes into. It gives an order and accountability to make sure we are connected to God on a regularly.
How do you start? It’s the first thing to do is figure out what time of day is most conducive to you to pray. Some people prefer to start their day by praying, while others prefer to pray in the evening before going to getting to bed. Try it out and discover what works for you.
After you’ve decided on the most appropriate time for prayer then you can begin to build your routine. Here’s an example of a daily pattern for morning prayer:
Begin by addressing God to ask for his presence while you read and pray.
Take a chapter from the Bible and meditate on it. It can be done by reading it three or four times, or writing down the things it says about yourself, or the examples you can follow, instructions to obey or promises to claim.
Structure your prayer by making confession, adoration prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Make a prayer for your urgent needs and concerns as well as taking time to be in God’s presence.
The great thing about a prayer routine is that it is customizable to meet your requirements. Some people may only have a few minutes to spare, while others may have an hour or more. The key is that you make this a regular part of your daily routine. If you fall off the occasional day or two, don’t sweat it! Get back on track the next day.
An everyday prayer practice is an excellent way to start the new year with a fresh belief in the purpose of your life and a feeling of connection to the divine. It’s a powerful way to start your day, placing your attention upon the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions with His will.
Another way to increase your prayer time is to make it more interactive. Instead of simply reciting words, try to engage with God in a deeper way. Try using your imagination to picture the scenes described by the Bible. Make an effort to experience the emotion of each character and put yourself in their position. This will make your prayer time more meaningful and personal.
Try incorporating different types of prayer into your daily routine. For instance, you can try silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even journaling your prayers. This will prevent your prayer practice from becoming boring and will add variety to your spiritual routine.
One of the best methods to keep yourself engaged and focused on your daily prayer routine is sharing your practice with others. Find a accountability partner, a family member or friend member who will check in with you and encourage you to keep to your routine. They can even join you in prayers and share their own experiences.
The goal of a daily prayer practice is to deepen your relationship with God and ensure that your actions and thoughts are in line in accordance with His plans. It’s not about perfectionism or adhering to the strict rules, it’s about being consistent and deliberate in your daily spiritual practice. Take the time to discover a prayer practice that works for you and make it a priority in your daily life. You’ll be amazed by the impact it has for your spiritual development and overall health.
