Once you’ve determined the best time to pray then you can begin to establish a routine. Here’s an illustration of a typical daily routine for prayer in the morning:

Begin by approaching God to ask for his blessing as you read and meditate.

Go through a section of the Bible and then meditate on the passage. It can be done by reading the passage three to four times, or writing down the things it says about yourself, guidelines to obey or promises to keep.

Make your prayer a ritual by praying for adoration, confession, petition, and thanksgiving. Make a prayer for your immediate needs and worries as well as taking time to sit in the presence of God.

The beauty of the prayer time routine is that it is customizable to meet your requirements. Some people may only have just a few minutes while others might have an hours or longer. The trick is that you make this a consistent element of your day-to-day routine. If you fall off a day or two do not fret! Just get back on track the following day.

Another way to enhance your prayer routine is to make it more engaging. Instead of simply reciting phrases, try engaging with God at a deeper level. Make use of your imagination and try to imagine the scenes that are described in the Bible. Make an effort to experience the emotion of each character and put yourself in their the shoes of their characters. This makes your time of prayer more meaningful and personal.

You can also try incorporating various forms prayers into your day-to-day routine. For instance, you can try silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even journaling your prayers. This can keep your prayer practice from becoming boring and will add variety to your spiritual routine.

Find a accountability partner, a family member or friend member who can check on you regularly and help you to adhere to your daily routine. They could even join you in prayers and share their own experiences.
