Go through a section of the Bible and reflect on it for a while. This can be done by reading it three or four times, or writing down everything it reveals about yourself, examples to follow, commands to obey or promises to claim.

Structure your prayer by offering adoration, confession, petition, and thanksgiving. Make a prayer for your urgent needs and concerns, and take time to be in God’s presence.

Make use of your imagination and try to picture the scenes described in the Bible. Make an effort to experience the emotion of each character and put yourself in their the shoes of their characters. This can make your time in prayer more personal and meaningful.

Try incorporating different types in your prayer day-to-day routine. For instance, you can try silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even writing your prayers. This can keep your prayer practice from becoming boring and will add variety to your spiritual routine.

One of the most effective methods to keep yourself engaged and focused on your prayer practice is by sharing it with other people. Find a partner in accountability, a friend or family member who can check in with you and help you to keep to your routine. They could even be a part of your prayers and share their own experiences.
