The most challenging aspect of prayer is making it a constant part of our lives. But with a little bit of planning and effort you can develop a prayer routine that works for you and your schedule. The greatest part is that you are able to modify it to match your own personality and religious tradition.

Life can be busy and it’s easy to let prayer slide off the list of priorities. But just like anything else worth having, it requires effort and discipline. This is where establishing a prayer routine comes in. It provides an order and accountability to ensure we’re connected to God on a regularly.

How do you start? The first step is to decide the time of day that is the most suitable time to pray. Some people prefer to start their day by praying, while others prefer to pray in the evening before going to getting to bed. Experiment and see what works best for you.

Once you’ve identified the ideal time for prayer then you can begin to build your routine. Here’s an example of a daily pattern for morning prayer:

Begin by addressing God and asking for his presence as you read and pray.

Take a chapter from the Bible and then meditate on the passage. This can be accomplished by reading it three or four times, or listing the things it says about yourself, or examples to follow, commands to follow or promises to make.

Your prayer should be structured by praying for adoration, confession as well as petition and thanksgiving. Prayerfully address your urgent needs and concerns as well as taking time to be in God’s presence.

The beauty of the prayer time routine is that it can be adapted to suit your needs. For some, you may have only some minutes while others might be able to devote a whole hour or more. It’s important making it a regular element of your day-to-day routine. If you fall off the occasional day or two, don’t sweat it! You can get back on track for the next day.

An everyday prayer practice is a wonderful way to start this new year feeling a fresh feeling of purpose and feeling of connection to the divine. It’s a powerful way to begin your day by keeping your eyes on the Lord and making sure that your actions and thoughts are aligned in accordance with His plan.

Another method to improve your prayer time is to make it more engaging. Instead of simply reciting words, try to engage with God in a deeper way. Make use of your imagination and try to picture the scenes described in the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters and place yourself in their shoes. This will make your prayer time more meaningful and personal.

Try incorporating different forms in your prayer routine. For example, try a silent prayers, contemplative prayers, or even writing your prayers. This will prevent your prayer routine from becoming monotonous and add variety to your spiritual routine.

One of the most effective ways to remain engaged and focused on your daily prayers is sharing the practice with other people. Find a accountability partner either a close friend or family member who can check on you regularly and help you to keep to your routine. They may even join you in prayer and share their personal experiences.

The goal of a regular prayer routine is to increase your connection with God and ensure that your actions and thoughts are in line with His will. It’s not about perfection or following an unwritten set of rules, it’s about being consistent and deliberate in your spiritual life. Therefore, make the effort to create a routine of prayer that you enjoy and make it a priority in your daily life. You’ll be amazed at the difference it can make in your spiritual growth as well as overall wellbeing.
