The most difficult aspect of praying is making it a consistent element of our daily lives. But with a little bit of planning and effort you can develop a prayer routine that works with your lifestyle and schedule. And the most appealing part is that you are able to modify it to fit your personality and your spiritual beliefs.

Let’s be real, life can be hectic and it’s easy to let prayers slip down on the list of priorities. Like everything other thing worth being a part of, it requires dedication and discipline. That’s where developing the habit of praying comes into. It gives the structure and accountability needed to ensure we’re in contact with God on a an ongoing basis.

How do you begin? The first step is to decide what time of day works best for you to pray. Some people like to start their day with prayer, while others find it easier to pray before going to going to bed. Experiment and see what works best for you.

Once you’ve determined the best time to pray You can begin to establish a routine. Here’s an illustration of a typical daily routine for morning prayer:

Begin by addressing God, ask for his help as you read and pray.

Read a passage from the Bible and reflect on it for a while. This can be accomplished by reading it three or four times or by listing anything it tells you about yourself, the examples you can follow, instructions to follow or promises to claim.

Structure your prayer by offering adoration, confession, petition, and thanksgiving. Prayerfully address your urgent needs and concerns as well as taking time to be in God’s presence.

The beauty of praying is that it’s customizable to suit your needs. Many people might only have a few minutes to spare and others could have an hours or longer. The key is making it a regular part of your routine. And if you miss one or two days Don’t be concerned! You can get back on track the next day.

A daily prayer practice is a wonderful method to begin this new year feeling a new sense of purpose and spiritual connection with God. It’s a powerful way to begin your day by keeping your eyes upon the Lord and aligning your thoughts and actions with His will.

Another method to improve your prayer time is to create a more engaging. Instead of reciting the words, try to engage with God on a deeper level. Try using your imagination to picture the scenes described by the Bible. Try to feel the emotions of the characters and place yourself in their shoes. This can make your time in prayer more meaningful and personal.

Try incorporating different types prayers into your routine. For example, try a silent prayer, contemplative prayer or even writing down your prayers. This will prevent your prayer practice from becoming repetitive and provide the variety you need to your spiritual practice.

One of the most effective ways to remain engaged and focused on your daily prayer routine is sharing your practice with others. Find an accountability partner, a family member or friend member who will check in with you and encourage you to stick to your schedule. They can even join you in prayer and share their own experiences.

Remember, the goal of daily prayer is to increase your connection with God and align your thoughts and actions in accordance with His plans. It’s not about perfection or following a strict set of rules, it’s about being consistent and deliberate in your life of faith. Take the time to create a routine of prayer that you enjoy and set it as a priority in your day-to-day life. You’ll be amazed by the difference it can make in your spiritual growth as well as overall wellbeing.
