Let’s be real, life can be hectic and it’s easy to let prayer get lost on the priority list. However, just like everything else that’s worth having, it requires effort and discipline. This is where establishing an effective prayer schedule comes in. It provides structure and accountability to make sure we are connecting with the divine on regularly.

So, how do you begin? The first step is to figure out the time of day that is the most suitable time to pray. Some prefer to begin their day by praying, and others prefer to pray in the evening before going to going to bed. Try it out and discover which method works best for you.

Once you’ve identified the ideal time for prayer, you can start to establish a routine. Here’s an illustration of a typical daily routine for morning prayers:

Begin by approaching God to ask for his blessing as you read and meditate.

Read a passage from the Bible and meditate on it. It can be done by reading the passage three to four times, or listing the things it says about yourself, the examples you can follow, instructions to obey or promises to keep.

Make your prayer a ritual by offering adoration, confession prayer, thanksgiving, and petition. Make a prayer for your needs and pressing concerns as well as taking time to enjoy God’s presence.

The beauty of praying is that it’s customizable to suit your needs. For some, you may have only some minutes and others could have an hour or more. It’s important to make it a regular part of your daily routine. If you don’t make it through the occasional day or two do not fret! Get back on track for the next day.

The practice of daily prayer is an excellent way to start this new year feeling a fresh belief in the purpose of your life and a connection with the divine. It’s a powerful method to begin your day by putting your focus to the Lord and making sure that your actions and thoughts are aligned to His plans.

Another method to improve your prayer routine is to enhance it by making it more engaging. Instead of just reciting words, you should try to connect with God in a deeper way. Make use of your imagination and try to picture the scenes described within the Bible. Make an effort to experience the emotion of each character and put yourself in their shoes. This makes your time of prayer more personal and meaningful.

Try incorporating different forms in your prayer day-to-day routine. For instance, you can try silent prayer, contemplative prayer, or even writing your prayers. This will prevent your prayer routine from becoming repetitive and provide some variety to your daily spiritual routine.

One of the most effective ways to stay focused and in line with your daily prayers is sharing the practice with others. Find a accountability partner either a close friend or family member who can check on you regularly and help you to adhere to your routine. They can even join you in prayers and share their own experiences.

Remember, the goal of daily prayer is to increase your connection with God and ensure that your actions and thoughts are in line with His will. It’s not about perfectionism or following the strict guidelines, but rather being consistent and deliberate in your daily spiritual practice. Therefore, make the effort to create a routine of prayer that you enjoy and incorporate it in your day-to-day life. You’ll be amazed at how much difference it makes on your spiritual growth and overall health.
