It’s true that life can be busy and it’s easy for prayer to get lost on the priority list. However, just like everything other thing worth having, it takes dedication and discipline. This is where establishing the habit of praying comes into. It provides an order and accountability to ensure that we’re connected to God on a regularly.

How do you get started? The first step is to determine what time of day works best for you to pray. Some people like to start their day with prayer, and others prefer to pray in the evening before going to bed. Experiment and see what works for you.

Once you’ve determined the best time to pray then you can begin to build your routine. Here’s an example of a daily pattern for prayer in the morning:

Begin by addressing God and asking for his help as you read and pray.

Go through a section of the Bible and reflect on it for a while. This can be done by reading the passage three to four times, or listing everything it reveals about yourself, or examples to follow, commands to follow or promises to keep.

Make your prayer a ritual by offering adoration, confession, petition, and thanksgiving. Make a prayer for your needs and pressing concerns as well as taking time to enjoy God’s presence.

The great thing about a prayer routine is that it can be adapted to fit your needs. For some, you may have only a few minutes to spare and others could have a half an hour or more. The trick is that you make this a regular part of your routine. And if you miss one or two days, don’t sweat it! Get back on track the following day.

A daily prayer practice is a wonderful opportunity to begin this new year feeling a new belief in the purpose of your life and a connection with the divine. It’s an effective way to begin your day by putting your focus to the Lord and making sure that your actions and thoughts are aligned in accordance with His plan.

Another way to increase your prayer practice is to make it more interactive. Instead of reciting the words, you should try to connect with God in a deeper way. Make use of your imagination and try to picture the scenes described in the Bible. You can try to imagine the feelings of these characters and put yourself in their shoes. This can make your time in prayer more personal and meaningful.

It is also possible to incorporate various forms in your prayer day-to-day routine. For instance, you can try silent prayers, contemplative prayers, or even journaling your prayers. This can keep your prayer routine from becoming monotonous and add variety to your spiritual routine.

One of the best ways to stay motivated and on track with your daily prayer routine is sharing the practice with others. Find a accountability partner, a family member or friend member who will check on you regularly and help you to adhere to your daily routine. They could even be a part of your prayer and share their personal experiences.

The goal of daily prayer is to increase your connection with God and make sure that your thoughts and actions are aligned in accordance with His plans. It’s not about perfectionism or following the strict rules, it’s about being deliberate and consistent in your life of faith. Take the time to discover a prayer practice that works for you and incorporate it in your day-to-day life. You’ll be amazed at the difference it can make for your spiritual development as well as overall wellbeing.
